Grape Belt Seniors
Aerobics and weights with Catherine Monday, Wednesday, and Friday at 9 a.m. If class is cancelled due to bad weather, Catherine will have it announced on WDOE; and will post it on her Facebook page and Grape Belt Seniors Facebook page.
Members are again collecting hats, scarves, mittens, and gloves for Partners in Kind. Items may be dropped off at the Center. Thank you for helping to keep people warm.
The March luncheon is on Wednesday, March 14 at 11:30 a.m. at the Center. Those attending are asked to bring a dish to pass.
All trips, extended as well as day trips, are open to the public; members and non-members. Fliers for upcoming trips for 2018 are available at the Center.
Trips planned for 2018 thus far include:
Boston, Massachusetts: Includes Red Sox vs. Yankees game. Aug. 2 to 5.
“The Phantom of the Opera:” May 6. $152. As of this writing, there are still seats available for this trip.
Forest Lawn Trolley and History: Wednesday, May 30. This is a new listing! $118. Enjoy the special tour performance. Learn about Forest Lawn history and about some of the “permanent residents” (a few of who you’ll get to meet!) Buffet lunch at Curly’s Grille, followed by a visit to the Pierce Arrow Museum.

Shaw Festival Niagara-on-the-Lake: Nov. 18. Lunch at Pillar and Post. 2 p.m. matinee show of “A Christmas Carol” at Royal George Theatre. Proof of citizenship is required. Call by March 24 if interested in this trip.
Thousand Islands, Riveredge Resort, Alexandria Bay, New York: July 15 to 16. Visit Sonnenberg Gardens, Mansion Tour, and wine tasting en route to Thousand Islands. $75 deposit with sign-ups to secure seats. Seats are still available. Call by March 24 if interested in this trip.
Extended trips for 2018:
The Nova Scotia & Maritimes of Canada: 8 days and 7 nights with visits to many interesting sights. Sept. 12 to 19. Proof of citizenship is needed.
Historic Philadelphia and Lancaster County: June 19 to 21.
David Wendt was at the Center on Feb. 23 to discuss both trips. He will return to the Center on Wednesday, March 7 at 10:30 a.m. to finalize the Hawaii trip.

United Senior Citizens
The United Senior Citizens will resume their monthly luncheon meetings on Monday, March 12 at noon at the Fredonia Beaver Club, 64 Prospect St. The menu will include: ham, boiled cabbage, carrots, onions, potatoes, fresh tossed salad with homemade dressing with ice cream with creme de menthe for dessert.

Silver Creek Seniors
The Feb. 27 meeting opened with expectations of an early spring as predicted by Dunkirk Dave.
President Ed Newman warmly welcomed Silver Creek Superintendent of Schools Todd Crandall, who gave an informative talk concerning Silver Creek Central Schools 2018 Capital Improvements Project. A question and answer program followed. Learn even more details on the school’s website or by attending a public hearing on Thursday, March 13 at 6 p.m. in the school auditorium.
The Pledge of Allegiance was recited, followed by singing “God Bless America.” After Chaplain Dorothy Miniri invoked blessings of thanks, an array of Lenten and traditional dishes delighted every taste bud. Thanks to all who provided the notable nourishment.
The group is looking forward to attending “The Brainstormers’ Spirit of Aging” performance at the Mt. Carmel auditorium on March 7 at 12:30 p.m. The group thanks the Mt. Carmel Seniors for the invitation.
Memories were tested with songs of old: “Look for the Silver Lining” and “Goodnight Sweetheart ‘Til We Meet Tomorrow.” From a bumper sticker “Age doesn’t matter unless you’re a cheese.”
Please join the Silver Creek Hanover Garden Club at the Silver Creek Senior Center, 1823 Lake Road on March 10 at 2 p.m. to “Ask the Master Gardener” who will help answer your gardening concerns. The event is open to everyone.
The 50/50 winners were Miniri, Joan Suski and Sue Borowski. Door prizes were won by Ed Prowse, Mary Ann Seibert, Harry Suski and Thelma Hilliker.
Ed Newman called bingo. Winners were Lorraine Bailey, Lorrie Newman twice, Jean McDaneld twice, Ellyn Sutehall, Shirley Sikorski and Ernie Hilliker.
The next meeting is on Tuesday, March 6 at 1 p.m. at the Senior Clubhouse on Route 5 in Silver Creek.

Tuesday: Active Senior Aerobics with Kim at 9 a.m., Painter Center gym. Small fee.
Wednesday: Exercises with Pat at 9 a.m., Painter Center gym; Quilting with Florence at 10:30 a.m., Collins Library Community Room; Senior Bowling at 1 p.m. at K&L Lanes in Gowanda, small fee; Games & Crafts with Pat at 1 p.m., Painter Center Yellow Room.
Thursday: Beginning Yoga at 9 a.m., Painter Center gym.
Friday: Exercises with Pat at 9 a.m., Painter Center gym; potluck lunch at noon, Painter Center Yellow Room. Bring a dish to pass — everyone is welcome!
