41st annual Pacos and third annual Burlett family reunions
The 41st annual Pacos and the third annual Burlett family reunions were held on Saturday, July 8. The “Happy Hour” at the Pacos Farm on Friday night was cancelled due to rain.
On Saturday morning, July 8, 13 family members gathered at the Hillview Golf Course on Berry Road in Fredonia for a “Just for Fun” golf tournament hosted by Gary and Nancie Hermann. Gary presented all participants with golf balls.
Starting at noon on Saturday, 43 Pacos family members and 3 Burlett family members gathered at the Russell Joy Park lower pavilion in Fredonia. Acquaintances were renewed with family members attending from Florida, North Carolina, Maryland, Wisconsin, Dewittville, Stockton, Dunkirk and Fredonia.
After a 2 p.m. buffet luncheon, the annual meeting was held. Eleanore Pacos welcomed members of both families and a moment of silent prayer was observed for the sick and deceased family members. Last year’s minutes were read and accepted.
Recorded under new business were 12 weddings, one death, one 25th anniversary, one retirement, three high school graduations and one college graduation.
The following family trips were recorded: Kimberly and Daniel Pacos to Ireland; Elisha and Janson Benner to the Bahamas; Susan and Thomas Zanghi to Germany and Robert Zanghi and Mary Netkish are touring the world with stops in London, Portugal, Spain, Italy, Romania, Greece, South Africa, Dubai, India, Thailand, Cambodia, Vietnam, China, France, Prague, Hungary, Germany and then back to the United States.
Mary Ann Metro was the oldest Burlett family member attending and Trudy Pacos and Albin Pacos, Jr. were the oldest Pacos members attending.
The youngest Burlett family member attending was Sophie (Burlett) Semyenova, daughter of Alan Burlett. Youngest members of the Pacos family were Austin and Declan Cassidy, twin sons of Darrin and Jessica (Pacos) Cassidy.
Next year’s reunion will be held on the first Friday and Saturday of July. This will be Friday night July 6, 2018 for the gathering at the Pacos Farm for the “Stone Picking Party” and Saturday morning July 7 at 9 a.m. for the “Just for Fun” Golf Tournament at Cassadaga Country Club and at noon at the Russell Joy Park Lower Pavilion for the reunion. A buffet luncheon will begin at 2 p.m. Families are asked to bring their own table service, meat and a dish to pass. In-town family members are asked to pass on this information to their families out of town.
