Fredonia High School Class of 1962 holds reunion
The Fredonia High School Class of 1962 held its 55th reunion on Aug. 11 and 12.
On Friday, class members and guests gathered at Rookies on the Lake for an informal evening.
On Saturday, class members and guests met for cocktails and dinner at The Clarion. Bob Jolley, husband of classmate Cheryl Anderson Jolley, offered grace before the meal. Dave Cronk acted as Emcee. A moment of silence was observed for the 22 deceased classmates. Veterans in attendance at the reunion were invited to come forward to be recognized, and the group was led in the Pledge of Allegiance. M.C. Cronk opened his remarks by sounding the chimes, as he did each morning over the public address system at the “old high school on the hill.” He then read the “Regent’s Prayer,” which he also did each morning. He shared memories from 1962, and invited others in attendance to share their memories.
Joanne Scaccia Valentine graciously filled in as moderator for Sandy Abramowicz Cliver, who was unable to attend. Sandy had prepared a 1962 trivia quiz. The winners were given lottery tickets.
The tables in the banquet hall had lighted floral centerpieces which were made by Peggy Penharlow Card. The registration, remembrance, and dessert tables also had balloon bouquets. Attendees were presented with a booklet giving updated information on class members. After dinner, classmates listened to “oldies” music and reminisced.
Those in attendance traveled from California, Colorado, Florida, Illinois, Louisiana, Massachusetts, Ohio, Pennsylvania, and several areas in New York State.
The organizing committee for the reunion included Sandy Abramowicz Cliver, Donna Corzett Zuchowski, Judy Mancuso Piwowarski, Peggy Penharlow Card, Barbara Ann Seminatore Mawhir, and Nancy Sinclair Crandall.
