Fredonia’s connection to work, school

Kyleigh Warren took part in the internship program at Fredonia schools in the second semester.

During the second semester of this school year, Fredonia High School had 17 students involved in the internship program giving them a small taste of what a future career may look like.

Juniors and seniors can participate in this program and receive a half-credit upon successful completion.

They have a chance to observe and participate in actual work, conduct interviews, take pictures, keep time cards, write journal entries and discuss their likes/dislikes and information they learned each week with the instructor. They also prepare a final presentation about their career and their overall internship experience. Students feel more prepared for their next step after high school by participating in this program. If you would like more information about being an Internship Mentor or if you would like information about your child enrolling in this program for next year, please contact Internship Coordinator, Laura DePue at Fredonia High School at ldepue@fcsd.wnyric.org. “We can’t say THANK YOU enough to the wonderful community members who have supported this program and helped a student with their future career choices,” DePue said.

Some of the businesses and organizations where students have interned this semester include: Brooks Memorial Hospital, Fredonia Pediatric Dental, Northern Chautauqua Dental, Chautauqua Health and Fitness, 21 Brix Winery, SUNY Fredonia Athletic Department, SUNY Fredonia Career Development Office, Dr. Steven Ihrig, Fredonia Elementary/Middle School, Awesome Bouncers & More and Verizon.
