Vasquez earns DHS Class of 1989 award
Cierra Vasquez, daughter of Andre and Terri Vasquez of Dunkirk, was recently awarded the Dunkirk High School Class of 1989 Memorial Scholarship at Class Night.
The annual award, valued at $500, was in honor of DHS Class of 1989 deceased classmates Paula Kuschel, Jennifer Styborksi, Jody Wdowiasz, Mike Koch, Robert Pierce, James Kulpa, Susan Butts, Elizabeth Barnes, Tony Quiles, Susan Stoyle (Gorka), Scott Roesler, Todd Iskra, Paul Szach, Joseph Pieszak, John Gizowski, Tammy Crawford and Corey Marshall.
The award was presented by Matthew Woelfle, DHS Class of 1989 graduate and member of his class reunion committee.
Cierra, a 2018 graduate of Dunkirk Senior High School, was a member of the cheerleading squad, Ivy Tower yearbook staff, Spanish Club and Business Honor Society. She also graduated in the top 25 of her class overall.
Her volunteer activities included the annual Marauder Trotter 5k Race, Brooks Memorial Hospital Annual Election Day Spaghetti Dinner, Harvest Chapel’s Summer Bible Study Camp and Dunkirk Free Library’s Summer Carnival.
She is currently a waitress at Bob Evans and Cabana Sam’s.
Cierra plans to attend Jamestown Community College in the fall with an undeclared major.
