Danza! Performing Arts Academy dance studio announces that its annual Holiday production will be held on Thursday, Dec. 8 and Friday, Dec. 9 at 7 p.m. at the historic 1891 Fredonia Opera House.

“The Nightmare Before Christmas,” an original dance production based on the Disney hit animated movie musical, will feature Jack Skellington, Sally, Santa and all their dancing friends performed by talented students of all ages. The studio is pleased to perform a local holiday performance open to the public.

The annual performance features a number of the studio’s dancers each year in a unique and original presentation choreographed by Danza! Artistic Director Krista Taylor. The lead roles of Jack and Sally are played by 15 year Danza! dancers and Fredonia seniors Sophie Stevens and Destiny Draggett. Other roles include Mia Barone as the Mayor, Suzie Piper as Oogie Boogie Man, Maddie Abate as Sandy Claws and Daisia Draggett as Dr. Finklestein. Kyra Taylor, Mckenna Taylor and Abbey DuBois perform as Oogie Boogie’s henchmen Lock, Shock and Barrel. Other key roles are performed by Leigha Hoisington, Kelly Lucas and Macy Kawski.

The stage is set with “This is Halloween” and the story continues as Jack attempts to steal the Christmas Holiday from Santa Claus, assisted by the Oogie Boogie man and his three henchmen, Lock, Shock and Barrel. Harlequins, toy clowns and music box ballerinas dance alongside a cast of elves busy prepping for the holidays. Several large group dances will be performed, including some of the studio’s tumbling students to “The Oogie Boogie Man,” featuring a variety of skill level and ages as well as large group ballet and jazz performances, Modern and Lyrical dance. The performances include something for everyone. The performance is very much geared to be child-friendly. Dancers appear from Fredonia, Dunkirk, Silver Creek, Forestville, Brocton, Westfield and Gowanda and range from the age of three and up. Tickets are available at the 1891 Fredonia Opera House at 679-1891. The box office is open Tuesday through Friday 1 to 5 p.m., located at 9 Church St. in Fredonia.
