¯ MINA — Charges have been filed in an accident that occurred earlier this month.

At approximately 8 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 3 deputies responded to a personal injury accident on Sulphur Springs Road. After an investigation, it was determined that a 17-year-old male who was operating the vehicle was traveling at a very high rate of speed. The driver lost control of the vehicle and went off the side the roadway.

The vehicle flipped onto its side and rolled over numerous times. The vehicle came to rest after hitting a utility pole and severed it in half. All occupants of the vehicle were transported to UPMC Hamot by local EMS to be treated for their injuries.

The 17-year-old male was later charged with two counts of endangering the welfare of a child, reckless driving, speed not reasonable and prudent and move from lane unsafely.

The driver is scheduled to appear in Mina town court at a later date.

¯ HANOVER — Kevin M. Kundla, 63, of Dunkirk, was charged Friday with driving while intoxicated, aggravated DWI blood alcohol content .18 or higher, operating while registration is suspended and improper or unsafe turn without signal.

Kundla was taken into custody and later released with tickets. He will appear in Hanover town court at a later date.

State Police at Jamestown

¯ JAMESTOWN –A 51-year-old Jamestown man is facing felony driving while intoxicated charges.

Carlos Pagan was pulled over Monday by state troopers after allegedly committing a traffic violating at Cross and East Second streets in Jamestown and after failing several field sobriety tests, Pagan was placed under arrest. Pagan was transported to the State Police at Jamestown where he provided a breath sample of 0.12. Pagan’s driving record revealed a DWI conviction in 2014 so the charge was upgraded to a felony.

Pagan was then processed, arraigned in the town of Charlotte Court and remanded to the Chautauqua County Jail.

¯ JAMESTOWN — A city resident has been charged with unlawful possession of marijuana.

Jose Diaz, 24, was approached by troopers Monday for being parked in the middle of Chandler Street in Jamestown. While speaking to Diaz, the Troopers smelled marijuana emanating from inside the vehicle.

Upon searching the vehicle, the troopers located marijuana in a cigarillo wrap. Diaz was arrested and issued an appearance ticket returnable to the Jamestown City Court next month.

¯ CARROLL –A 20-year-old Frewsburg resident is facing driving while intoxicated and reckless driving charges after an auto accident on Sunday.

New York State Police charged Tage Akins after an incident at Frew Run Road and Bain Road in Frewsburg. An investigation revealed that Akins was intentionally peeling out in a pull off area and when he entered the road, lost control of his vehicle, subsequently causing the accident.

Akins was placed under arrest after failing several field sobriety tests and transported to the Jamestown barracks where he provided a breath sample of 0.18.

Akins was then processed, issued tickets returnable to the Town of Carroll Court and released. Akins is to be back in Town of Carroll Court later to answer the charges. Akins was uninjured in the accident.
