Area police — Sept. 24

≤ RIPLEY — A Lakewood woman sustained minor injuries after apparently falling asleep at the wheel Saturday morning.

Chautauqua County sheriff’s deputies responded to a motor vehicle accident on Route 76 around 6:30 a.m. Upon arrival, deputies identified the operator as Tiffany M. Green, 35. Through an investigation it was found that Green was traveling in the town and fell asleep causing her vehicle to go off the road. The vehicle then overturned and came to rest on its roof.

Green sustained minor injuries and was transported to Westfield Memorial Hospital.

Further investigation showed that Green’s vehicle registration was suspended. She was issued a traffic ticket and will be in the town of Ripley Court at a later date and time.

Dunkirk Police Reports

¯ Omar Contreras, 37, of Dunkirk, was charged Thursday with third-degree aggravated unlicensed operation of a vehicle and ticketed for driving with no tail lights and no headlights.

¯ Richard Raynon, 26, of Bemus Point, was charged Friday with third-degree criminal mischief.

¯ David C. Smith, 18, of Dunkirk, was charged Thursday with second-degree obstructing government administration.

Fredonia Police Reports

¯ Melyssa Jewell, 32, of Forestville, was charged Tuesday with failure to pay and issued a bench warrant.

¯ Paul Goszewski, 19, of Hamburg, was charged Saturday, Sept. 16 with disorderly conduct.

¯ Brayden Plecker, 17, of Silver Creek, was charged with unlawful possession of marijuana and failure to produce drivers license.

Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office

¯ HANOVER — Alan L. Bennett, 54, was charged with a felony driving while intoxicated and more on Saturday at 12:28 p.m. Chautauqua County sheriff’s deputies pulled over a vehicle for a moving from lane unsafely violation on Route 39.

After an investigation, he was allegedly intoxicated. He was convicted with driving while intoxicated within the last 10 years. His charges include a felony DWI, a driving while intoxicated per se and moving from lane unsafely. He will appear in the Hanover Town Court at a later date.

¯ SILVER CREEK — A 47-year-old village resident is facing criminal mischief charges.

Around 1:30 p.m. on Friday, Chautauqua County sheriff’s deputies were dispatched to Ward Avenue for an incident. After an investigation, it was found that Robert McCutcheon had damaged the property of another person and threatened to harm that person. He was charged with fourth-degree criminal mischief and second-degree harassment.

McCutcheon was arraigned in the Silver Creek Village Court and was released without bail. He is scheduled to appear back in court at a later date.

Cattaraugus County Sheriff’s Office

¯ PERSIA — Edward A. Johnston, 48, of Maple Hill, Cattaraugus, was charged with felony driving while intoxicated and multiple other charges on Friday at 6:20 p.m. The traffic stop occurred at Maple Hill in Persia.

His charges include: aggravated DWI over .18 percent, first-degree aggravated unlicensed operation, unregistered vehicle, uninspected vehicle and open container of alcohol. He was processed and released to appear in Persia Town Court at a later date.

¯ RANDOLPH — Joshua J. Dash, of Randolph, was arrested Friday on an incident that took place on Thursday at 7:35 a.m. Dash’s charges include: third-degree criminal possession of a weapon and criminal possession of a firearm. Dash was arraigned in Conewango Town Court as bail was set at $300,000 cash or bail bond. Additional charges are pending.
