Two from Forestville injured in Cattaraugus County accident

ASHFORD — Two Forestville residents were injured in a two-car motor vehicle accident Wednesday morning on Route 219.

Cattaraugus County sheriff’s deputies report a 2002 Toyota Camry, operated by Brian E. Grzybowski, 60, of Forestville, spun out of control on Route 210 and was struck by a southbound 2006 Dodge Caravan operated by Luay S. Alani, 46, of Amherst at 11:37 a.m.

Both operators were transported to the Erie County Medical Center for trauma to the extremities. A passenger in the Grzybowski vehicle, Carolyn Grzybowski, 60, was taken by Mercy Flight to ECMC for head trauma.

Deputies were assisted by Ellicottville police, West Valley Fire, Ellicottville/Great Valley Ambulance and Mercy Ambulance. The accident is under investigation and charges are pending.

Mayville phone scam circulating

MAYVILLE – The village of Mayville has received three phone calls from local businesses regarding past due electric bills requesting payment over the phone. This is a phone scam and is not associated with the Village of Mayville Electric Department.

The village of Mayville does not accept any payments over the phone.

If any village Electric Department user receives a call regarding a payment over the phone, contact the Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office and feel free to call the Village of Mayville Clerk’s Office at 753-2125.

≤ NEW ALBION — Freeman D. Yoder, 19, of Cattaraugus, was arrested on Saturday at 9:29 p.m. for third-degree unlawfully fleeing a police officer, unlawful possession of alcohol, second-degree aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle, reckless driving and multiple other vehicle and traffic infractions.

The charges came after a short vehicle pursuit in the town of New Albion.

Yoder was processed and taken to New Albion Town Court for arraignment, where he was remanded to the Cattaraugus County Jail in lieu of $2,500 bail.

≤ NEW ALBION — Joel T. Pagett, 38, of Cattaraugus was arrested on Sunday at 1:39 a.m. for driving while intoxicated, aggravated DWI with a blood alcohol content level over .18 percent and failure to keep right.

The charges came after a traffic stop in the town of New Albion.

He was processed and released on tickets, and is due back in New Albion Town Court at a later date.

≤ CONEWANGO VALLEY — Christal E. Brown, 57, of Conewango Valley, was arrested on Feb. 8 at 11:15 p.m. for driving while intoxicated, aggravated DWI with a blood alcohol content level over .18 percent, moving from lane unsafely and open container of alcohol in a motor vehicle.

The charges came after a traffic stop in the town of Conewango.

Brown was processed and released with tickets, and is due back in Conewango Town Court at a later date.

≤ RANDOLPH — Jeffrey A. Stacey, 53, of Randolph, was arrested on Feb. 4 at 9:27 p.m. for driving while intoxicated, aggravated DWI with a blood alcohol content level over .08 percent and driving with no tail lights.

The charges came after a traffic stop in the town of Randolph.

Stacey was processed and released with tickets, and is due back in Randolph Town Court at a later date.
