Man accused of sex abuse with child

Carmelo Hernandez, 58, of Temple Street, Fredonia, was charged with two counts of first-degree sex abuse, second-degree course of sexual conduct against a child, and seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance on Friday.

At about 11 a.m., Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Deputies and Fredonia Police served an arrest warrant on Hernandez at an address on Temple Street.

Hernandez had an active arrest warrant for two counts of first-degree sex abuse and second-degree course of sexual conduct against a child out of Chautauqua County Court.

After Hernandez was located and taken into custody, it was found that he was in possession of a controlled substance.

Hernandez was committed to Chautauqua County Jail. He will appear in Fredonia Village Court for the charge of criminal possession of a controlled substance at a later date.

¯ NORTH HARMONY — Charles J. Green, 35, of Jamestown was charged with driving while intoxicated, DWI per se, failure to use turn signal, and uninspected motor vehicle on Thursday.

Around 1 a.m., Chautauqua County Sheriff’s deputies observed a vehicle committing a traffic violation on South Maple Street in the town of North Harmony.

Deputies stopped the vehicle and spoke to the operator, Green. It was found that Green was allegedly operating the vehicle in an intoxicated state.

Green was processed and released to a sober party, and will return to North Harmony Town Court on a later date to answer the charges.

¯ KIANTONE — Adam A. Apperson, 21, of Jamestown was charged with speeding and unlawful possession of marijuana on Friday.

Around 11:40 a.m., Chautauqua County Sheriff deputies stopped a vehicle for speeding on Route 62 in the town of Kiantone.

The operator, Apperson, was allegedly found to be in possession of a small quantity of marijuana.

Apperson was charged, released and will appear in Kiantone Town Court next month to answer the charges.
