Motorcyclist allegedly flees cops at over 100 mph

ELLICOTT — Dustin D. Pickett, 28, of Lakewood was charged with driving while intoxicated, DWI per se, two counts of reckless operation, speed in zone, failure to obey a traffic control device and unlawful fleeing of a police officer on Sunday.

At around 2:30 a.m., Chautauqua County Sheriff’s deputies observed a motorcycle traveling east on Fairmount Avenue in the town of Ellicott at an alleged high rate of speed. Deputies reportedly clocked the motorcycle in excess of 100 miles per hour. Deputies attempted to stop the motorcycle, which then failed to comply.

The operator, Pickett, continued fleeing from deputies and led them on a vehicle pursuit into the town of Busti. Pickett reportedly crashed the motorcycle on West Summit Street and surrendered to deputies and officers from Lakewood-Busti Police Department.

Pickett was taken into custody, charged and arraigned in Busti Town Court and remanded to the Chautauqua County Jail on bail. Police say Pickett did not sustain any injuries from the crash.

¯ Thomas Braidich, 39, of Silver Creek was charged with driving while intoxicated and DWI per se on Wednesday.

Around 10 p.m., deputies were called to a report of an unconscious female in the Chautauqua County Fair parking lot. The driver was identified as Braidich, and after an investigation, it was alleged that Braidich had started driving the vehicle away before his girlfriend was in the vehicle, which caused her to fall from the vehicle, hitting her head.

Braidich was taken into custody and later released with tickets to appear in Dunkirk Town Court at a later date.

¯ SILVER CREEK — Michael A. Hodges, 43, of Erie, PA, was charged with driving while intoxicated, DWI per se, inadequate headlights and refusal to take a breath test on Saturday.

At about 11:30 p.m., deputies allegedly observed a vehicle operating with only one working headlight on Central Avenue in the village of Silver Creek. Upon further investigation, deputies found that Hodges was reportedly operating his vehicle in an intoxicated state.

Hodges was charged and will answer his charges in Silver Creek Village Court on a later date.
