Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office

¯ELLERY — Brad T. Bettis, 45, of Frisbee Road, Cassadaga, was charged with felony driving while intoxicated, aggravated DWI per se, failure to maintain lane and refusal of prepscreen test on Sunday. At 5:15 p.m., sheriff’s deputies responded to a report of a vehicle that was off the road on Slide Fenner Road. Deputies located that vehicle and determined that Bettis was intoxicated. Because of a previous conviction in 2009, this DWI was a felony. Bettis was arraigned and released to appear in Ellery Town Court at a later date.

¯ MINA — Four teenagers were involved in a rollover accident on Sulpher Springs Road that ended in striking a utility pole, which severed in half, police say. Deputies responded to the scene of the accident on Sunday at 8:03 p.m. and found that the teenagers’ vehicle was heading west at a high rate of speed. The vehicle left the road and rolled over multiple times before striking the pole. The teenagers were transported to Hammot Medical Center for apparent non-life threatening injuries. The accident is still under investigation. No names were released as they are all minors, but there were two males and two females — with no indication of who was driving.

¯ RIPLEY — A 16-year-old male was charged with third-degree criminal possession of stolen property on Sunday at 11:12 p.m. Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to assist Pennsylvania State Police on Shortman Road. Through an investigation, it was found that the 16-year-old allegedly stole a dirt bike in Pennsylvania. The youth was arrested and released to a parent.
