BEMUS POINT — Deputies were called to a Sunnyside Avenue residence Thursday for report of an assault.
Upon further investigation, deputies alleged that Calvin Thomas, 60, of Bemus Point, had grabbed another resident by the neck and would not allow the subject to leave.
Due to Thomas’ prior convictions, he was charged with aggravated family offense, second-degree unlawful imprisonment and criminal obstruction of breathing or blood circulation.
Thomas was taken into custody, arraigned in Ellery Town Court and sent to the Chautauqua County Jail in lieu of bail.
≤ Rodney Hawkins, 22, of Fredonia, was charged Dec. 13 with second-degree harassment.
≤ Alyssa Loveland, 21, of Dunkirk, was charged Wednesday with seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, no turn signal and inadequate headlight.

SOUTH DAYTON — On Sunday, Dec. 10, troopers arrested Bret M. Smith, 27 and Layna R. Jimerson, 28, both of South Dayton, for seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance.
At around 10 a.m., troopers had observed a vehicle parked at the Super Duper on Pine Street with multiple occupants for an extended period of time.
Troopers approached the vehicle while Smith, sitting in the driver’s seat, was loading a hypodermic needle. Further investigation revealed that Soboxone and meth were located.
Both subjects were issued appearance tickets for the South Dayton Court.
