Crash leads to DWI charges against man

A Dunkirk man was charged Friday afternoon following a two-car accident on Route 5 at Temple Street.

The Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office reports that deputies were dispatched around 2:41 p.m. to the scene. An investigation determined that Bradley J. Ross, 33, of Dunkirk, was operating his vehicle in an intoxicated state. Ross was taken into custody for driving while intoxicated and was later released with appearance tickets.

Ross is charged with following too closely, uninspected motor vehicle, driving while intoxicated and aggravated driving while intoxicated with a .18 or higher BAC. Ross is due back in Dunkirk Town Court at a later date to answer the charges.

¯ Around 2 a.m. Friday., deputies stopped a vehicle on Route 20 in Fredonia for driving with no headlights and failure to keep right. Deputies found the driver, Jose S. Cruz Jr., 29, of Fredonia, to be intoxicated. Cruz was subsequently charged with no headlights, failure to keep right, driving while intoxicated and aggravated DWI.

¯ BROCTON — Deputies responded to a Main Street residence around midnight Friday for a report of an unwanted man, Jerome A. Rogerson, 24, of Dewittville. Deputies located Rogerson and after an investigation he was found to be in possession of a small quantity of methamphetamine. Rogerson was charged with seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance and will answer his charge in Brocton Village Court at a later date.

¯ CHERRY CREEK — Kalee M. Halladay, 22, of Cherry Creek, was charged Friday with driving while intoxicated, DWI per se and failure to keep right. Around 3:30 a.m., deputies stopped Halladay on Pickup Hill Road for an observed traffic infraction. An investigation found that Halladay was operating her vehicle in an intoxicated stated. She will answer her charges in Cherry Creek Town Court on a later date.
