¯ SOUTH DAYTON — A traffic violation uncovered 23 grams of marijuana and other drugs from two inside a vehicle on Jan. 16, New York State Police say.
Katelyn M. Smith, 28, of Westfield was charged with unlawful possession of marijuana and seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance and Tynell J. Tolbert, 24, of Buffalo, was charged with unlawful possession of marijuana.
Troopers stopped Smith’s vehicle on Pine Street for failing to signal properly. The troopers smelled an odor of marijuana. A subsequent search found Smith to be in possession of four plastic bags containing an aggregate weight of 21.5 grams of marijuana, 8 milligrams of Suboxone and 15 Buprenorphine pills, police say. The passenger, Tolbert, was also allegedly in possession of a plastic bag containing 2 grams of marijuana.
Tolbert and Smith were issued appearance tickets for South Dayton Village Court at a later date.
¯ NORTH COLLINS — Matthew D. Ortel, 23, of North Collins, was charged with driving while intoxicated on Jan. 19 at 2:20 a.m.
Troopers stopped Ortel’s vehicle on Shirley Road for driving left of pavement markings and obstructed rear license plate. Ortel allegedly exhibited signs of impairment, failed a series of field sobriety tests and was taken into custody for DWI.
He had a reported .13 percent blood alcohol content. He is due in North Collins Town Court in February.
