13-year-old Westfield student threats another with knife at school

WESTFIELD — A 13-year-old student was charged with third-degree menacing after allegedly bringing a knife to Westfield Academy and Central School Tuesday and making threats to another student, Westfield Police Department said.

At around 7:45 a.m., patrol responded to 203 East Main St., the location of the school, for a report of a student being disorderly. After a conversation with Westfield High School Principal Ivana Hite, patrol determined that the 13-year-old threatened another student with a knife.

The youth, whose name isn’t released because of the person’s age, was issued a ticket to Family Court.

Teen charged with stealing iron bench

WESTFIELD — A 17-year-old male was charged with petit larceny after a lengthy investigation of a reported stolen cast iron bench.

Sheriff’s deputies reported to a local laundromat business at 7 Clinton St. on July 13, 2017, where a cast iron bench was missing. It was stolen from the front porch.

The male, whose name was not released, was charged and released to appear in Westfield Village Court at a later date.

State Police issue warning over scam letter

The New York State Police are investigating a scam letter that is being sent to residents of western New York.

The scam letter was purportedly issued from NatWest Bank in the UK, which promises an inheritance opportunity. Several residents within Erie County have reported receiving the letter.

Anyone who receives such a letter is advised to refrain from providing any information; do not respond to the letter in any way.

Police are continuing to investigate.

Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office

¯ Stanley P. Stevens Jr., 52, of East Rochester, was charged with speed in zone, driving while intoxicated and DWI per se on Sunday.

At 2:10 a.m., sheriff’s deputies stopped a vehicle on Route 20 in the town of Pomfret for speeding. The driver, Stevens, was allegedly in an intoxicated state. Stevens was arrested and released to appear in Pomfret Town Court at a later date.
