Gowanda man arrested for choking, beating woman with brain injury

GOWANDA — Officers responded to a report of a disturbance at a Buffalo Street address Saturday, May 26. The alleged perpetrator, Richard Frazier, 30, had been involved in a verbal altercation with a woman he knew. The altercation escalated with Frazier allegedly striking the woman in the face and head.

Frazier then allegedly choked the victim. As she attempted to flee, Frazier allegedly grabbed her arm and forced her into a vehicle and prevented her from leaving.

Frazier reportedly knew that the woman had a previous brain injury.

He was arrested for first-degree reckless endangerment, criminal obstruction of breathing, second-degree unlawful imprisonment and second-degree harassment.

Frazier was arraigned in Collins Town Court and remanded to the Erie County Holding Center in lieu of $10,000 bail.

Intoxicated man reports car stolen, forgot where it was parked

PERSIA — Vincent G. Thompson, 20, of Perrysburg contacted officers Tuesday at approximately 4 a.m. to report that his vehicle had been stolen.

Thompson, who appeared highly intoxicated, reported that he had parked his vehicle on East Main Street and claimed that an unknown person had taken it.

A short time later, officers located Thompson’s vehicle parked on Chestnut Street. Officers located Thompson and brought him to his vehicle. It appeared that Thompson had forgotten where he had parked it.

While advising Thompson that he was too intoxicated to drive, officers discovered that he was in possession of 2.5 grams of hashish honey oil and approximately one gram of marijuana. Thompson was charged with seventh degree possession criminal possession of a controlled substance and for unlawful possession of marijuana.

He is scheduled to appear in Persia Town Court at a later date.

¯ On Friday May 25, officers pulled over Brittney J. Giguere, 25, of Gowanda, for a driver’s obstructed view. During the stop a DMV computer check revealed that Giguere’s license had been revoked due to a prior driving while intoxicated conviction. The check further revealed that her vehicle was required to have an alcohol interlock device, something that was lacking from her vehicle. Officers found that Giguere and a passenger in the vehicle, Wayne G. Maybee, 26, of Gowanda, were in possession of a small amount of marijuana. Giguere was charged with driving with an obstructed view, second-degree aggravated unlicensed operation, unlicensed operation, operating a vehicle with no alcohol interlock system and unlawful possession of marijuana.Maybee was charged with unlawful possession of marijuana. Both Giguere and Maybee are scheduled to appear in Collins Town Court at a later date.

¯ Scott W. White, 52, of Gowanda, had been ejected from the beer tent at the Harley Happening event on Friday for unruly behavior. As officers were escorting White from the event grounds, he became verbally aggressive, yelling obscenities at the officers. White continued his aggressive verbal behavior after being warned by the officers that continuing this behavior would result in his arrest. As officers arrested White, he attempted to fight them. White was charged with disorderly conduct, second-degree obstructing governmental administration and resisting arrest. He is scheduled to appear at Persia Town Court at a later date.

¯ On Saturday at approximately 1:15 a.m., officers pulled over a vehicle driven by Michael G. Miller, 63, of Richmond, Texas for repeatedly swerving into the right shoulder of the roadway. During the traffic stop Miller exhibited signs of intoxication and he failed several sobriety checks. A breath test resulted in a .15 blood alcohol content reading. Miller was charged with failure to keep right, failure to maintain a lane and driving while intoxicated. He is scheduled to appear at Collins Town Court at a later date.

¯ Officers responded to a report of a disturbance at a Jamestown Street address on Thursday, May 24. Officers were told that a verbal altercation had occurred between alleged perpetrator Stephen Pszczola, 45, of Gowanda and another man. Pszczola allegedly entered the other subject’s gated yard and punched him in the face. Upon leaving the victim’s property Pszczola allegedly slammed the fence gate, damaging it.

Pszczola was charged with second-degree harassment, third-degree criminal trespass, trespass and fourth-degree criminal mischief.

He is scheduled to appear in Persia Town Court at a later date.

¯ HANOVER — Deputies were contacted on April 4 by a local business for an incident of fraud. Upon further investigation, it is alleged that Sean P. O’Connor, 43, of Silver Creek, used a counterfeit $10 bill to make a purchase at that business. On Friday, O’Connor was arraigned on the charges of first-degree criminal possession of a forged instrument, petit larceny and third-degree aggravated unlicensed operation. O’Connor was released after arraignment under the supervision of probation. He is scheduled to appear in Hanover Town Court at a later date.
