≤ SILVER CREEK — On Wednesday at approximately 12:18 a.m., sheriff’s deputies were dispatched to a motor vehicle accident that resulted in property damage on Angell Road in the town of Hanover. After an investigation, Robert K. Shumaker, 37, of Silver Creek was charged with third degree criminal mischief, second degree reckless endangerment and second degree harassment, as well as other traffic tickets. Shumaker will appear in Hanover Town Court at a later date.
≤ SHERMAN — On Main Street in Sherman, Jacob J. Czerminski, 19, of Franklinville was found unresponsive in his vehicle by sheriff’s deputies and Sherman Fire/EMS personnel on Friday at approximately 8:40 a.m. After a brief investigation, deputies and EMS personnel determined that Czerminski was not presenting any medical conditions, but that he was reportedly under the influence of possible drugs or alcohol. Deputies took him into custody for alleged driving while intoxicated and issued traffic tickets for open containers located in the vehicle. Czerminski was transported to the sheriff’s office for processing and later turned over to the Chautauqua County Jail in lieu of pre-arraignment bail.
¯ SILVER CREEK — On Saturday at around 12:10 a.m., sheriff’s deputies observed a motorcycle commit multiple traffic violations on Central Avenue in the village of Silver Creek. Following a brief investigation, Blaine M. Sheffer, 30, of Lancaster, was charged with speeding in zone, improper unsafe turn without a signal, DWI per-se and DWI .08 or higher. He was released and is scheduled to appear in the village of Silver Creek court on a later date.
¯ ELLERY — An Erie, Pennsylvania woman was stopped for speeding on Route 430 in the town of Ellery Saturday at around 12:30 a.m. Amanda M. Merritt, 28, was charged with DWI, DWI .08 or higher following a brief investigation. She was released with tickets and is scheduled to appear in the town of Ellery court at a later date.
Westfield Police Department
≤ WESTFIELD — On Thursday night, Westfield police officers stopped motorist Douglas L. Sheare, 34, of Westfield for allegedly operating an uninspected motor vehicle on a public highway. Upon further investigation, Sheare’s vehicle inspection was found to have expired in February of 2018. A New York State DMV check of Sheare’s registration revealed that it was suspended for insurance not in effect. Sheare was issued two traffic citations and will appear Westfield Village Court at a later date.
