¯ ELLERY — On Saturday at about 12:10 p.m., deputies reportedly observed a vehicle to be speeding on Ellery-Centralia Road in the town of Ellery. Upon stopping the vehicle, the driver was identified as Javier A. Mendoza, 23, Fredonia. After a brief investigation, Mendoza was reportedly found to be in possession of a small quantity of marijuana. He was charged with operating while registration suspended or revoked, unlawful possession of marijuana, speed excess of 55 MPH, operating without insurance and unregistered motor vehicle. He was released with tickets to appear in the Ellery Town Court at a later date.

¯ HANOVER — On Saturday at around 12:50 a.m., Sheriff’s deputies stopped a vehicle that allegedly committed a traffic violation in the village of Forestville. Deputies identified the driver as Mark A. Sanchez, 35, Amherst. Following an investigation, they charged Sanchez with DWI, DWI per se, refusal to take a breath test and improper or unsafe turn without signal. He will appear in the Hanover Town Court at a later date.

¯RIPLEY – On Friday at 3:03 p.m., Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Deputies and Ripley Fire Department responded to a location on Shortman Road in the town of Ripley for an overdose victim. Deputies located Franklin C. Fisher, 37, of North East Pa., behind the wheel of a motorvehicle and unresponsive.

Deputies and Ripley EMS determined Fisher to be suffering from an overdose and administered Naloxone. Fisher was taken to Westfield Memorial Hospital to be further treated. The investigation determined Fisher was operating a motor vehicle while he was impaired by drugs. Fisher was later arrested for driving while ability impaired by drugs and was released with a citation.

Fisher is to appear Ripley Town Court at a later date.

¯ WESTFIELD – On Saturday at about 5:03 p.m., Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Deputies conducted a traffic stop on Route 394 in the Westfield. An investigation of the stop revealed that Richard D. Bloom, 54, of Westfield, was allegedly operating a motor vehicle on a public roadway while in intoxicated state and with a suspended registration. Bloom was arrested for driving while intoxicated, aggravated DWI with alcohol content .18 percent or higher and operating a motor vehicle with a suspended registration. Bloom was released with citations and is to appear in Westfield Town Court at a later date.
