Gowanda Police Department

≤ On Dec. 19 at approximately 1:04 a.m., patrol observed a vehicle on Commercial Street failing to drive in the lane, driving off the right side of the roadway over a curb, then failing to signal at a turn. The vehicle was stopped and the driver, Sandra Cooper, 41, of Gowanda, allegedly exhibited signs of intoxication. Cooper failed several sobriety tests, and a DMV computer check revealed her license was suspended five times for her failure to answer a summons, and her license was revoked in 2013 for a DWI conviction. There was also a court order mandating Cooper to have an alcohol interlock system on any vehicle she operates due to her DWI conviction. Cooper was arrested for moving from a lane unsafely, failure to signal a turn, felony driving while intoxicated, felony aggravated unlicensed operation, and operating a vehicle with no alcohol interlock system. A subsequent alcohol breath test resulted at .17 percent BAC, over twice the legal limit.
