SOUTH DAYTON — On Feb. 25, troopers stopped a vehicle on First Street for operating without insurance on file. While interviewing the driver, Joshua J. Dash, 39, of Leon, the odor of marijuana was allegedly present. Troopers reportedly found Dash in possession of approximately 1.4 grams of meth, THC oil and marijuana. Dash was charged with two counts of seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, unlawful possession of marijuana and for operating without insurance on file. Dash was processed at State Police Collins and released on appearance tickets.

≤ FALCONER — On Feb. 24, the Town of Carroll Police Department responded to a residence for a report of an unattended fire. While searching the property for residents and/or possible victims, the responding officer located a marijuana grow operation. Troopers responded to the scene and placed Blaydon Niles, 27, of Falconer, under arrest for unlawfully growing cannabis, after an investigation allegedly revealed that the 64 marijuana plants belonged to Niles. Niles was issued an appearance ticket and is scheduled to appear in the town of Poland Court next month.

MINA — On Feb. 22 at around 11:33 p.m., deputies stopped a car on Route 426 for an alleged equipment violation. The operator was identified as Steven B. Combs, 25, of Wattsburg, PA. It was discovered that Combs had an outstanding warrant in Erie County, Pennsylvania. When deputies attempted to place Combs in custody, Combs struck a deputy in the face, and attempted to flee on foot. After a brief struggle, Combs was taken into custody and charged with fugitive from justice, resisting arrest, second-degree obstructing governmental administration, second-degree harassment, unlawful possession of marijuana, unlicensed operator and no/inadequate tail lights.

≤ ELLICOTT — On Feb. 24 at about 11:43 p.m., deputies stopped a vehicle on East Main Street for observed violations. Upon investigation of the vehicle, the passenger was identified as Robert C. Sheldon, 49, of Jamestown, whom was allegedly found to have an active warrant for his arrest out of Warren County Pennsylvania. Sheldon was arrested as a fugitive of justice and was taken to Chautauqua County Jail on centralized arraignment.
