Patterson Library welcomes new director

WESTFIELD – The Board of Trustees and staff of Patterson Library are very pleased to announce that Andrew R. Koval has accepted the position of library director.

Born in Sharpsville, Pa., Koval studied political science and philosophy at Thiel College, receiving his bachelor of arts degree in 2007. He received his master of science in library science at Clarion University of Pennsylvania. Most recently, Koval has served as assistant librarian at Ridge Library, Mercyhurst University in North East, Pa.

Married to a librarian, Koval shares his hobbies as riding bikes, watching movies and flea marketing.

Koval said, “I think the library can serve the community by being a marketplace of ideas where people can gather to access and exchange information by print, technology, and through the grapevine. It is important to understand the needs of the community and develop/continue programs that serve to meet those needs. The Patterson Library board members and staff have made me feel so welcome and for this opportunity I am grateful.”

Koval will begin as Patterson Library director in mid-October.
