Northwest Arena named best place to skate in upstate in poll

JAMESTOWN — Looking for some winter fun? Lace up those skates and get ready for some cool fun at Northwest Arena, named the No. 1 best place to go skating by Syracuse.com. Northwest Arena features a dual pad ice rink serving Western New York and Northwestern Pennsylvania.

Keith Martin, executive director of Northwest Arena, said we’re honored to be recognized as the number one skating destination in update New York and we’re seeing more and more activity in the arena.

The rink offers youth and adult hockey, skating lessons, figure skating programs, along with public skate sessions. The arena is also home to the Jamestown Rebels junior hockey team in the North American Hockey League.

On Dec. 26, Northwest Arena added ice bumper cars to the mix. The 12-car activity is offered in 15-minute sessions for ages 6 and up. The new offering is available during public skate and various private events such as parties and company outings in the form of hour-long sessions.

“Since the launch of our ice bumper cars, skaters are taking advantage of the Bump & Skate where they can save on the combo deal (ice bumper cars and skating),” Martin said.

The cost to skate is $7 and there is an extra $2 to rent skates. Ice bumper cars are $6 for a 15-minute session. Combo passes that include skating admission are $12.
