Poinsettia sale kicks off

Would you like to purchase a beautiful poinsettia and help an area organization this holiday season? The Boys & Girls Club of Northern Chautauqua County is selling poinsettias for the holiday in pink, red, white and marble for $10 each. Proceeds benefit the club and its Hope for the Holidays program.

Orders and payments are due Dec. 2 and orders will be ready for pick up by Dec. 9.

Pomfret seeks

cemetery sexton

The town of Pomfret is seeking a cemetery sexton following the resignation of Michaelene Comerford on Nov. 30. The sexton is responsible for five rural cemeteries in the town. All interested can submit a letter to the town clerk at the clerk’s office on Day Street.

Food pantries in need of donations

Area food pantries are in need of donations for the holiday season. Non-perishable food items, as well as many toiletries, will be accepted and appreciated. Contact your local food pantry for drop-off hours or for a list of specific holiday items.

North Collins parking ban under way

In the village of North Collins, there is no on on-street parking of vehicles on any street from Nov. 1-April 1. The village office will be closed on Thursday and Friday for Thanksgiving.

Stockton Planning Board townwide

community Christmas lighting contest

In December, the Town of Stockton Planning Board will hold a townwide community Christmas lighting contest, including the village of Cassadaga.  No entry fee is required.

Applications are available at the Stockton, Cassadaga Libraries or the Town Clerk’s Office. Return applications by 5 p.m. Dec. 19 to the Stockton Town Hall or the Stockton, Cassadaga Library building or book drop off.

Contest judging will take place at 6 p.m. on or after Dec. 22.

Third annual Christmas

Dash for Cash underway

The third annual Christmas Dash for Cash, a fundraiser for the Boys & Girls Club of Northern Chautauqua County, is underway. Participants in the Dash for Cash have the opportunity to win up to $4,000 with a limited group of others who purchase tickets through a board member of the Boys & Girls Club. Including the top prize, there is $7,500 in prizes given away through this event with second prize being $1,000 as well as five $500 winners.

Tickets are $50 apiece with less than 350 still available. To purchase, call 785-1053.

Proceeds benefit the Hope for the Holidays program and the club, a positive place for more than 100 of the area’s youth during the school year with programs in Dunkirk and Silver Creek.

City Hall closed Thursday in observance of Thanksgiving

Rubbish in the Thursday collection zone will be picked up on Friday and rubbish in the Friday collection zone will be picked up Saturday.

Sheridan Town Clerk’s office closed this week

The Sheridan Town Clerk’s office is closed through Friday. The office is scheduled to reopen Monday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

In the case of an urgent situation, the town clerk may be reached at 672-4007 or 410-0253.
