Looking for a unique holiday gift? Purchase a commemorative brick for you family or friends to be placed at the Brad Anderson/Marmaduke statue site. Three sizes are available. Order forms may be picked up at the Portland Town Hall.

Stockton community Christmas lighting

contest deadline today

In December, the Town of Stockton Planning Board will hold a townwide community Christmas lighting contest, including the village of Cassadaga.  No entry fee is required.

Applications are available at the Stockton, Cassadaga Libraries or the Town Clerk’s Office. Return applications by 5 p.m. today to the Stockton Town Hall or the Stockton, Cassadaga Library building or book drop off.

Contest judging will take place at 6 p.m. on or after Dec. 22.

Pomfret historian

to hold book signings

Pomfret Town Historian Todd Langworthy will hold a book-signing event at the Bowler’s Corner Pro Shop at Lucky Lanes on Route 60 in Fredonia.

The days will be today from 6:30 to 9 p.m., Wednesday from 6:30 to 9 p.m., Thursday from 6:30 to 9 p.m. and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

One dollar from each book sold will be donated to the Fredonia Village Trolley Fund. The Bowler’s Corner Pro Shop will also donate $2 from all bowling ball sales on these nights to the trolley fund, as well.

Langworthy will have all of his local history books on sale for the event, which can be personalized by the author for holiday gift giving.

The Pomfret town clerk’s office will be closed today.

Silver Creek Central Elementary School plans Sing-a-Long Friday morning

The Silver Creek Central Elementary School, 1 Dickinson St., will host its wildly popular “Elementary Sing-a-Long” on Friday at 9:30 a.m. in the elementary gym for third grade through fifth grade and at 10 a.m. for pre-k through second grade.

The performance is a tradition in the district and features a medley of festive favorites appropriate for the holiday season.

Hanover to hold

special meeting Tuesday

The town of Hanover will hold a special meeting Tuesday at 5 p.m.  in town hall to discuss the host community agreement regarding the Ball Hill Wind Energy Project.
