City leaf pickup to begin for Fourth Ward today

The city of Dunkirk Department of Public Works has completed leaf pickup in the Third Ward and are moving on to the Fourth Ward starting today and continuing snow permitting.

Stockton to hold reorganizational meeting Jan. 10

The town of Stockton will hold its reorganizational meeting Jan. 10 at 7 p.m. at the town hall. The regular monthly meeting will also take place at that time, with videoconferencing from 2820 Suncoast Blvd., Port Charlotte, Florida. The public is welcome.

Fredonia School Board to meet in executive session

The Fredonia Central School Board of Education will hold a special meeting Thursday at 5 p.m. in High School Room 636. It is anticipated that the board will go into executive session to discuss matters leading to the appointment of an interim superintendent of schools.

The board may take action following the executive session.

Robert Terreberry to appear on Chautauqua Sunrise

Chautauqua Sunrise will feature Robert John Terreberry as the guests on Saturday. Terreberry is the author of “Murder at Maple Springs.”

Host Doc Hamels will conduct the program. The  program airs live from 9 to 10 a.m. on Saturday morning and is rebroadcast daily until Friday at 2 and 8 p.m. for some communities. The guest is subject to change.

Chautauqua Sunrise is shown live on Saturday mornings on Time Warner cable systems covering the following communities: Brocton, Cassadaga, Chautauqua, Fredonia, Mayville, North Harmony, Portland, Ripley, Sherman, Stockton and Westfield on Channel 5. In Dunkirk, Falconer, Forestville, Hanover, Irving, Jamestown, Lakewood and Silver Creek, the program is on channel 19. Channel numbers shown are for subscribers using a cable converter. Digital channels for televisions without a converter will vary by community. The show originates at the Access Channel 5 studio in Mayville.

Chautauqua Lecture Series to appear on Access Channel 5

Access Channel 5 will be airing the 2016 Chautauqua Institution lecture series.

The following lectures will start on Saturday, with the last airing on Jan. 13:

¯ 7 a.m. and 11 p.m. — John Shelby Spong, “Matthew Introduces the Virgin Birth.”

¯ 1 p.m. and 7 p.m. — John Shelby Spong, “Right Out of Central Casting.”

Access Channel 5 is available to cable viewers in the Chautauqua, Mayville, North Harmony, Portland, Sherman, and Westfield areas, and can be found on channel 5 with a cable converter or on 5.3 on digital televisions without a cable converter.
