Bill Kuwik to appear on Fresh Perspectives

Gail Erb, host of Fresh Perspectives, will have guest Bill Kuwik on the program. Kuwik will discuss toxic house cleaning products and cosmetics.

The show will air Saturday through Feb. 24 at 3 p.m. and 9 p.m. each day.

Access Channel 5 is available to cable viewers in the Chautauqua, Mayville, North Harmony, Portland, Sherman and Westfield areas, and can be found on channel 5 with a cable converter or on 5.3 on digital televisions without a cable converter.

The program may also be viewed after the initial airing at the station’s website, http://accesschautauquacountytv.org.

Jeff Smith to appear on Chautauqua Sunrise

Chautauqua Sunrise will feature Jeff Smith as the guest on Saturday. Smith is executive director of St. Susan’s Center.

Host Doc Hamels will conduct the program. The program airs live from 9 to 10 a.m. on Saturday morning and is rebroadcast daily until Friday at 2 and 8 p.m. for some communities. The guest is subject to change.

Chautauqua Sunrise is shown live on Saturday mornings on Time Warner cable systems covering the following communities: Brocton, Cassadaga, Chautauqua, Fredonia, Mayville, North Harmony, Portland, Ripley, Sherman, Stockton and Westfield on Channel 5. In Dunkirk, Falconer, Forestville, Hanover, Irving, Jamestown, Lakewood and Silver Creek, the program is on channel 19. Channel numbers shown are for subscribers using a cable converter. Digital channels for televisions without a converter will vary by community. The show originates at the Access Channel 5 studio in Mayville.

Chautauqua Lecture Series to appear on Access Channel 5

Access Channel 5 will be airing the 2016 Chautauqua Institution lecture series.

The following lectures will start on Saturday, with the last airing on Feb. 24:

≤ 7 a.m. and 11 p.m. — John M. Buchanan, “Your Money or Your Life.”

≤ 12:45 p.m. and 6:45 p.m. — Tim Roemer, “A Tsunami of Big Money on America.”

Brocton/Portland Democratic Committee to meet

The Brocton/Portland Democratic Committee will be holding a regular meeting at the Portland Town Hall on Feb. 25 at 10 a.m.

The following positions are up for the November 2017 election: County Legislator District 7, Town Supervisor, Town Clerk, two Town Council positions, Highway Superintendent, Tax Collector and two Village Trustee positions.

Anyone interested can attend the meeting or contact Dan Schrantz for information. New members and anyone interested in helping in the November Town and Village election are welcomed to attend.

Ripley Library to host presentation on dementia

Ripley Public Library will be sponsoring a presentation on the Basics of Dementia.

Chautauqua Opportunities will be at the library on Feb. 23 from 6 to 7 p.m.

Changes in your loved one can be hard to understand. This presentation will help you cope with challenging behaviors.

The Ripley Public Library is located at 64 W. Main St.

Portland Planning Board to meet

The Town of Portland Planning Board will meet on Feb. 28 at 6:30 p.m. at 87 W. Main St., Brocton. The public is welcome to attend.

Adult interest courses offered at Pine Valley

Two adult interest courses are being offered at Pine Valley Central School this spring: Home & Hobbies: Stamp-a-Stack — Make Your Own Greeting Cards (Feb. 27), and Safety: AARP Driver Safety Program — Mature Driving (March 14 and 15).
