Ripley Library presentation on Dementia

Ripley Public Library will be sponsoring a presentation on the Basics of Dementia. Chautauqua Opportunities will be at the library on Thursday, Feb. 23 from 6 to 7 p.m. Changes in your loved one can be hard to understand. This presentation will help you cope with challenging behaviors. The Ripley Public Library is located at 64 West Main St.

Hanover Chamber Speaker planned for Tuesday

Business owners and HR specialists are invited to a program on Tuesday, Feb. 21 at 6:30 p.m. at Tom’s Family Restaurant (935 Allegany Road, Irving). The Hanover Chamber of Commerce will host a speaker meeting with Tyler Gotowka from Lawley Insurance. He will discuss Workers Compensation, the increasing minimum wage and the Exempt Administrative Salary changes. It isn’t necessary to be a Chamber member to attend. Soda and snacks will be provided.

Bill Kuwik to appear on Fresh Perspectives

Gail Erb, host of Fresh Perspectives, will have guest Bill Kuwik on the program. Kuwik will discuss toxic house cleaning products and cosmetics. The show will air through Friday, Feb. 24 at 3 and 9 p.m. each day.

Access Channel 5 is available to cable viewers in the Chautauqua, Mayville, North Harmony, Portland, Sherman, and Westfield areas, and can be found on channel 5 with a cable converter or on 5.3 on digital televisions without a cable converter.

Dunkirk increases commercial brush permit

The Dunkirk Common Council recently amended its recycling and yard waste policy. The city allows contractors to drop off brush at the highway garage with a permit. The cost of that permit has increased to $300 for the first vehicle and $150 for each additional vehicle owned and operated by the same contractor to be paid in advance.

Chautauqua Lecture Series to Appear on Access Channel 5

Access Channel 5 will be airing the 2016 Chautauqua Institution lecture series.

The following lectures will start on Saturday, February 18 with the last airing on Friday, February 24:

7:00 AM and 11:00 PM – John M. Buchanan, “Your Money or Your Life.”

12:45 PM and 6:45 PM – Tim Roemer, “A Tsunami of Big Money on America.”
