Fredonia-Pomfret Recreation

announces spring program

The Fredonia-Pomfret Recreation Department’s annual spring program for children up to 10 years of age who reside in the village, town, or attend Fredonia Schools, is scheduled for Saturday at Fredonia Elementary School.

Participants will be able to decorate their very own goodie bag filled with treats anytime between 12:15 and 1 p.m. Participants and their guardians will then be entertained by the magic and comedy of “The Charlie Show” starting at 1 p.m.

Parents and older family members are encouraged to attend and assist younger family members.

Plaque dedication Saturday

The dedication of a plaque honoring War of 1812 heroine Celea Sampson “Widow” Cole will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday at the Dunkirk Lighthouse & Veterans Park Museum, 1 Lighthouse Point Drive N., Dunkirk.

The public, including those seeking information on the DAR, is welcome to attend the event being held under the auspices of The State of New York Society, United States Daughters of 1812. For details, contact Beverly Sterling-Affinati at harborsideservices@gmail.com.

Education seat open

There will be one five-year term seat open on the Silver Creek Central School District Board of Education. Petitions may be picked up in the district office from the deputy district clerk between the hours of 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. Monday through Friday. Completed petitions will be due April 17 by 5 p.m.
