‘Pinwheel Garden’ ceremony in city Tuesday

The “Pinwheel Garden” planting ceremony at Dunkirk City Hall by the Office of Children and Family Services to mark Child Abuse Prevention Month will take place Wednesday at 4 p.m. The OCFS has also designated that date as “Wear Blue Day” to further promote awareness.

North Collins School Board work session Wednesday

A work session meeting of the North Collins Board of Education will be held in the Library-Media Center in the Junior-Senior High School Building of the district, 2045 School St., North Collins, on Wednesday at 6:30 p.m.

League of Women Voters presentation on composting Wednesday

On April 5, the League of Women Voters will have a presentation on composting 101. This is a follow-up to the luncheon where the topic was “waste management and its environmental impact.” Steve Rees, a master gardener, will be talking about garden composting. The potential for community composting will also be discussed. The presentation will be at the Fredonia Incubator at 214 Central Ave. in Dunkirk. The time will be 7:30 p.m.

Forestville Legion meat party Saturday

The Forestville Legion Auxiliary will host a Meat Party on April 8 at Post 953 American Legion, Cedar Street, Forestville at 7 p.m. There will be giveaways of ham, sausage, steak and prime rib. Free refreshments.

County Planning Board to meet; location has changed

The Chautauqua County Planning Board’s monthly meeting scheduled for April 4 at 4 p.m., has been relocated and will now be held at the SUNY Fredonia Technology Incubator, 214 Central Ave., Dunkirk. All meetings of the County Planning Board are open to the public.
