Parks Commission to meet Thursday

The Chautauqua County Parks Commission will hold its monthly meeting on Thursday at 4 p.m. at the Robert H. Jackson Airport. The public is welcome to attend.

Cottage Cemetery Assoc. meeting set

The Cottage Cemetery Association annual meeting will be held Thursday at 6 p.m. at the Dayton Fire Hall, Route 62, Dayton.

All trustees, lot owners, or those who have ancestors or family members buried at Cottage Cemetery, or anyone interested in purchasing a grave are urged to attend this meeting.

It is especially important to attend if you have questions about the cemetery, or if you have an interest in becoming an officer. This is the only meeting held each year. At this time, we will need to elect a secretary, as the current one has moved out of the area. If you have questions, please call 532-5287.

Cassadaga Job Corps announces session Thursday

CASSADAGA — The Cassadaga Job Corps Academy will host a tour and informational session for interested applicants and their families on Thursday.

The Academy offers no-cost career training in the health care, construction, and security industries as well as classes to prepare to take the TASC or obtain a high school diploma.

The training programs include Carpentry, Electrical, Plumbing, Painting, Certified Nurse Assistant, and Security. In addition the Academy also offers the Job Corps Advanced Training program for LPN, in partnership with BOCES.

In order to enroll applicants must be 16 to 24 years old, meet income guidelines, and demonstrate readiness to embark on a rigorous and demanding training program. Job Corps will provide the courses described above, as well as a comprehensive career preparation curriculum to ensure graduates are ready to enter the labor market, and the services include job placement services upon completion.

Spaghetti dinner planned for Wednesday

The Brocton/Portland Democratic Committee will be holding a spaghetti dinner with home made meatballs at the Brocton American Legion, Route 20, on Wednesday, April 26 from 4 to 7 p.m. Pre-sale tickets are: adults $7.50 and children under 12, $4. At the door, tickets are: adults $8 and children under 12, $4.25. Everyone and anyone is welcome to attend. Contact Dan Schrantz at 792-4661 for tickets or information.
