Fredonia yard waste pickup starts Monday

The village of Fredonia will be picking up limbs and yard waste this Monday through Thursday.

Collection will begin at 7 a.m. and continue until every village street within the scheduled section has been completed. Bags and brush are collected separately by different crews. All items for collection must be at the curb no later than 7 a.m. of the scheduled morning. In no case will there be repeat collection of areas completed.

All yard waste must be bagged and all limbs and brush must be tied with twine. Limbs and brush must be cut no longer than 4 feet in length with bundles being no larger than 18 inches in diameter. Bundles and bags are limited to 65 pounds in weight. There is no collection of loose material.

The cooperation of residents is greatly appreciated.

SUNY competition on Sunday

The SUNY Fredonia Concerto Competition will be Sunday at 1 p.m. at King Concert Hall.

The competition is judged by a panel of music faculty and lasts several hours. This is a free event.

Brocton-Portland GOP meeting Saturday

The Brocton/Portland Republican Party will meet Saturday at 9 a.m. at the Portland Town Hall to discuss the November election, fundraisers and election of officers. Positions open for the November election are:

≤ Village of Brocton: two trustee seats;

≤ Town of Portland: highway superintendent, town clerk, tax collector, supervisor and two council seats; and

≤ County legislator.

Youth rec meeting in Hanover May 3

A general membership meeting for the Silver Creek-Hanover-Forestville Youth Center Association Inc. will be held May 3 at 7 p.m. at Hanover Town Hall.

Action will be taken on by-laws, the board of directors and officers at that time.
