Attic and Seller Days registration nears
The last day to register your yard sale for Attic & Seller Days will be Wednesday, May 24. You can register your yard sale at: Pucci’s Carpet One Furniture & Bedding, 112 E. Main St., Fredonia, or Sir Printsalot, 1 Park Place, (Russo Building), Fredonia.
Hands-Only CPR class planned for May 30
A Hands-Only CPR class is planned for May 30 from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. at the Herbert Star Apartments, 54 Central Ave., Brocton. The program is free, and refreshments are provided. Pre-registration is required. Call 363-4582. Spots are limited.
In most cases, Hands-Only CPR is proven to be as effective as conventional CPR for cardiac arrest at home, at work or in public. Attendees will learn to recognize heart attack and stroke symptoms, what to do if they or someone they are with experiences symptoms.
The program is sponsored by the Chautauqua County Office for the Aging, CHQ250 Project and Chautauqua County Department of Health and Human Services.
Portland Board of Fire Commissioners meeting June 3
There will be a special meeting of the Board of Fire Commissioners to be held on Saturday, June 3 at 11 am at the Portland Fire Hall. This meeting will be to hold a discussion with CRG consultants on shared services of the Fire Service and any other business to come before the board. This meeting as with all Board meetings is open to the public.
Silver Creek Board of Education to meet May 23
The Silver Creek Board of Education will meet Tuesday, May 23 at 6 p.m. This is a deviation from the regular meeting schedule. Meetings are held in the high school board room. Community members are welcome.
Town of Sheridan to celebrate Memorial Day
The town of Sheridan will hold its annual Memorial Day celebration May 29, with parade lineup at the Municipal Complex parking lot at 11:45 a.m. Service at Sheridan Center Cemetery. The Sheridan Fire Department will hold its chicken barbecue and raffle immediately following the service. Tickets available at the town clerk’s office.
‘Communication and Dementia’ presentation to be held Thursday
Chautauqua Opportunities, Inc. Alzheimer’s Services is offering a presentation to community members on communication and dementia on May 25 from 6 to 7 p.m. at the Ripley Public Library, 64 W. Main Street in Ripley.
Changes in your loved one can be hard to understand. It can be overwhelming. Each new day brings new challenges. This presentation will give you insight and help you understand how to communicate with your loved one to help with activities in your daily routines. You are not alone.
