Citizens for a Better Cassadaga to meet today

Citizens for a Better Cassadaga will meet today at 7 p.m. at the Cassadaga Library. Updates on the Dale Drive project, grant work and the Labor Day festival will be discussed.

A new intern program will also be presented. New members are welcome.

County Road 57 closed

The Cattaraugus County Department of Public Works has closed the intersection of County Road 57 (Cottage-Markham Road) and Bentley Road in the town of Dayton for reconstruction. This closure took place Friday, July 7 and will reopen Sept. 1.

Dunkirk Fire Dept. releases June numbers

The city of Dunkirk Fire Department responded to a total of 146 incidents in June including 115 emergency calls with 48 ambulance transports, 16 still alarms, 13 box alarms and two mutual aid calls. The number of calls is lower than May 2017 and June 2016, which had 179 and 153 incidents respectively. The total number of calls for 2017 is 979, 48 fewer than this time last year.

Bicycle auction set for Saturday

The Westfield Farmers’ and Artisans’ Market is sponsoring a bicycle auction on Saturday at the market in Moore Park, intersection of routes 394 and 20.

More than 30 bicycles of all styles are available. The auction will begin promptly at 10 a.m. at the Gazebo.

Proceeds are for the Westfield Farmers’ and Artisans’ Market. If you have a bike to donate bring to the park by 9 a.m. or contact for pick up.

Local Waterfront Revitalization Project meeting July 18 in Sheridan

An LWRP public meeting will be held in the Sheridan Community Center on July 18 at 7:15 p.m. The purpose of the meeting is to gather public input about what residents would like to see along the lakefront in terms of development.

Attendance is encouraged and appreciated.
