Comprehensive Plan committee meeting planned for Monday in Persia
The Comprehensive Plan committee meeting will be held Monday at 6:30 p.m. at the Persia Town Hall, 8 W. Main St., Gowanda.
Portland Planning Board to meet Monday
The Town of Portland Planning Board will hold its regular meeting on Monday at 7 p.m. at 87 W. Main St., Brocton. Immediately following, the planning board will meet with the Chautauqua County Planning Board to discuss the Local Waterfront Revitalization Program. The public is welcome to attend.
Memorial run set for Saturday
BROCTON — On Saturday, July 29, the fourth annual Darren Manzella-Lapeira Memorial 5K Run and 3K Fun Walk will be at the Brocton American Legion Post 434 on Main Street.
The Run and Walk will start at Brocton Central School on School Street and finish at the American Legion. Registration begins at 8:30 a.m. and the run will begin at 10 a.m., rain or shine. All proceeds benefit local veterans through the Darren Manzella-Lapeira Assistance Fund associated with the Chautauqua Region Community Foundation and Veterans Agency.
Runners and walkers can also sign up for the race/walk the day of the race. Additionally, for those who cannot attend at the race site, a virtual run can be found on the website. Anyone with questions can contact Nancy or Mike Manzella at 792-9837 or manzellamichael@yahoo.com.
Reed’s staff
to visit Fredonia
U.S. Rep. Tom Reed’s staff will hold remote office hours in Fredonia on Monday, July 24. A staff member will be in the Trustees Room of the Village Hall, located at 9 Church St. in Fredonia, from 12:30 p.m. to 1:30 p.m.
A staff member will be available to answer questions, gather feedback, and provide assistance with Medicare, Social Security, veterans’ benefits, and other issues related to federal agencies.
Those unable to attend are encouraged to contact the Jamestown office at 708-6369.
Annual Priest Appreciation Dinner set
The 19th Annual Priest Appreciation Dinner will be held on Sunday, Sept. 17 at Holy Trinity Church, Msgr. Bernardo Hall, 1032 Central Ave., Dunkirk, with cocktails and hors d’oeuvres at 4 p.m. and dinner at 5 p.m. This annual event honors priests, deacons, religious sisters and seminarians for their service to the Church and the community.

Learning at the Lawson series
continues Wednesday
Dr. Tom Erlandson is the featured speaker at The Lawson Center, 73 Lakeside Drive, Bemus Point, on Wednesday at 6:30 p.m.
This is the third lecture in the free series made possible by The Lawson Center. Erlandson will be presenting an informative and entertaining lecture on the science of the lake.
Come for a “mix and mingle” time at 6:30 p.m., where you can enjoy soft drinks and craft beer graciously supplied by Ellicott Brewing Company and delicious munchies generously provided by Wegman’s.
Erland’s lecture starts at 7 p.m. No reservations are needed — just come, learn and enjoy.
