Community Forum on Poverty

Chautauqua Opportunities will be hosting a community forum on poverty at the Clarion Hotel and Conference Center 30 Lake Shore Drive East in Dunkirk today from 1-4 p.m.

Congressman Tom Reed, State Assemblyman Andy Goodell and community panelists providing federal, state, and local perspective on critical issues impacting Chautauqua and surrounding counties

The agenda is as follows:

1 to 2:15 p.m.: welcome and panelist discussion with Kia Briggs, executive director, Mental Health Association; Diane Hewitt-Johnson, director of health services, Chautauqua Opportunities, Inc.; Josiah Lamp, director of housing and community development, Chautauqua Opportunities,Inc.; Charles Leichner, superintendent of schools, Cassadaga Valley; Andy O’Brien, UPMC WCA; Rebecca Ruiz, The Chautauqua Center and Jeff Smith, executive director, St. Susan’s Center

2:15 to 2:30 p.m.: break

2:30 to 3:30 p.m.: Congressman Tom Reed

3:30 to 4 p.m.: State Representative, Andy Goodell

Persia to hold

budget workshops

The Persia Town Board will hold a budget workshop on Friday at 2 p.m. and Sept. 14 at 6 p.m. The workshops will be held at the town hall, 8 W. Main St., Gowanda.

South Dayton Gazebo music tonight

There will be music in the South Dayton Gazebo by Barbara Jean today from 6:30-8:30 p.m. Bring your lawn chairs. Enjoy hot dogs, hamburgers, pizza and ice cream.
