The Forestville Central School District Board of Education will hold its regular monthly meeting on Thursday in the High School Library at 5 p.m.

Sheridan Fire District

set workshop

The Board of Fire Commissioners of the Sheridan Fire District will hold a workshop meeting tonight at 7 p.m. at the fire hall, 2800 Route 20. The purpose of the workshop is to discuss the 2018 budget.

New location for Fredonia school tax collection

Community Bank, located at 3909 Vineyard Drive, Dunkirk, is the official school tax collection depository and site for the 2017-2018 Fredonia Central School tax collection period. The hours for the collection of school tax payments will be 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Mondays through Wednesdays, and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Thursdays and 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Fridays, starting today, and ending on Nov. 1.

AARP Driver Safety Classes set

Shirley Erbsmehl, instructor, has scheduled the following AARP Driver Safety Classes:

Monday, Sept. 18 and Tuesday, Sept. 19 from 2 to 5 p.m. both days at Fredonia Masonic Lodge, 321 E. Main St.

Monday, Oct. 16 and Tuesday, Oct. 17 from 2 to 5 p.m. both days at Fredonia Masonic Lodge, 321 E. Main St.

Monday, Nov. 20 and Tuesday, Nov. 21 from 2 to 5 p.m. both days at Fredonia Masonic Lodge, 321 E. Main St.

Attendance is required both days. The cost is $20 for AARP members and $25 for non-members, payable only by check or money order made out to AARP. Anyone 18 and older with a valid NYS license may enroll. Attendance both days will result in a discount on auto insurance or point reduction. The AARP certificate is valid for three years. To register, call Shirley at 679-4530. Seating is limited so call promptly to reserve a place.

JCC to offer

courses at Seneca Nation

Jamestown Community College will offer two courses at Seneca Nation facilities in Irving and Salamanca this fall.

English Composition II and Children’s Literature, both three-credit courses, are open to Seneca Nation members as well as community residents. Classes meet in the Cattaraugus Early Childhood Learning Center in Irving and the Seneca Arts and Learning Center in Salamanca.

Classes will meet from 5-7:45 p.m. on Mondays. English Composition II meets Sept. 11 through Oct. 30. Children’s Literature begins Nov. 6 and concludes Dec. 18.

Bridge underway
