Rabies Clinic set for Saturday

A free Rabies Clinic sponsored by the town of Pomfret will be held Saturday, Oct. 21 at the Town Highway garage, 9636 Chautauqua Road in Fredonia from 9 a.m. to noon. The event is for dogs, cats and domesticated ferrets 3 months of age and older. All pets must be on a leash or in a cage. Bring previous vaccination records.

Hanover to begin

flushing fire

hydrants Monday

HANOVER — The Hanover Water and Wastewater Department will begin flushing fire hydrants in the Hanover and the hamlet of Forestville the week of Oct. 23. Employees will be conducting this flushing during the hours of 8 p.m. to midnight. It is expected to take anywhere from two to three weeks to complete the work.

During this time residents may experience a slight drop in water pressure along with minimal discoloration. The water will remain safe for consumption during this process.

Thanksgiving Basket Applications

Thanksgiving Basket Applications will be accepted at the Chautauqua County Rural Ministry office, 127 Central Ave. in Dunkirk on Oct. 25, 26, 27, 30 and 31, as well as Nov. 1, 2 and 3 from 12:30 to 3 p.m. Applicants must bring proof of residency, proof of income and social security cards for all family members. These are the only dates CCRM will be accepting applications and the emergency food pantry will only be open mornings on these dates. No applications will be accepted after Nov. 3 and distribution of the baskets will take place the week of Thanksgiving. With questions regarding the process or information about the Holiday Giving Program, contact the offices at 366-1787. CCRM is a United Way of Northern Chautauqua County Community Partner.

Temple Street to be closed

Temple Street will be closed from Main Street to Central Avenue in the village of Fredonia today. Also, Lambert Street will be closed from Temple to Day Street. There will be no through traffic allowed.

Dunkirk Historical Museum closed next week

The Dunkirk Historical Museum will be closed the week of Oct. 23.
