Board to meet

The Fredonia Board of Education will meet Tuesday, Nov. 28, at 6 p.m. in the High School Library. The public is welcome to attend.

Perrysburg Town Clerk’s office to be closed

Perrysburg Town Clerk’s office will be closed Wednesday and Thursday, November 22 and 23 to the observe Thanksgiving holiday. Normal hours resume on Saturday, Nov. 25. Thank you and have a safe holiday.

Portland Town Planning Board to meet

Portland Town Planning Board will hold its regular meeting on Tuesday, Nov. 28, 2017 at 7:30 p.m. at 87 W. Main St., Brocton, NY. The public is welcome to attend.

Small Business Saturday to take place this week

Dunkirk will hold a 2017 Small Business Saturday Celebration on Saturday, Nov. 25 from noon to 5 p.m. at the former JCPenney space in the D&F Plaza. The city is calling all to come and shop small.

Come early for complimentary coffee, doughnuts and hot chocolate. Shop gifts from 10 local vendor pop-ups and learn about local businesses’ special promotions. Enter a free raffle to win a local business gift basket and enjoy kids activities including a holiday coloring contest and a surprise visit from Santa. Then take a shopping break and enjoy some eats from the Siri Thai Cuisine food truck.

At 5 p.m., head over to city hall for the annual tree lighting ceremony and a visit from Santa.

Dash for Cash

The Boys & Girls Club of Northern Chautauqua County’s holiday Dash for Cash is underway. A limited number of tickets will be sold with the top prize being $2,500. In addition, there will be two $500 winners, two $250 winners and one bonus prize to someone in attendance at the drawing at the Clarion Hotel at 6 p.m. Dec. 14.

businesses to

participate in Small Business Saturday Nov. 25

The City of Dunkirk’s Planning & Development Department is seeking local businesses to participate in Small Business Saturday activities on Nov. 25. Small Business Saturday is a national event that encourages shoppers to patronize local stores. Businesses are encouraged to have sales, special events or workshops to draw shoppers into their stores. The Planning and Development Department will create and distribute marketing materials to encourage shopping at participating businesses and will host an event on Nov. 25 to celebrate Small Business Saturday. Businesses that wish to participate and be included in marketing materials for the event should contact Matthew Bourke, community development planner at 366-9878 or mbourke@cityofdunkirk.com.

Community Foundation accepting applications for Ralph C. Wilson Jr. Legacy Funds

BUFFALO — The Community Foundation for Greater Buffalo is accepting applications for the 2018 Ralph C. Wilson, Jr. Legacy Funds competitive grant process. Grants will support the following areas of interest: caregivers, community assets, design and access and youth sports.

Applicants must be a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization located within the eight counties of Western New York, including: Allegany, Cattaraugus, Chautauqua, Erie, Genesee, Niagara, Orleans and Wyoming counties. For caregivers, government agencies also may apply. For community assets, only 501(c)(3) nonprofit organizations that reside in Erie County may apply.

Applications are due Jan. 8, 2018.
