Fredonia Fire Department’s October report
The Fredonia Fire Department reported its calls for the month of October 2017. In total, the department answered 195 calls.
The village only had three fires as the town of Pomfret had two and the fire department was mutual aid to one call. Ninety-six calls in the village were rescue and emergency medical services with 22 in the town, 16 for SUNY Fredonia, seven for mutual aid and one for the state highway.
Other notables include 17 false alarm, false calls from SUNY Fredonia.
Board of Education meeting to be held today
A regular meeting of the Board of Education of the Ripley Central School District will be held today, at 6:30 p.m. in the Research Library (Room 204) of the Ripley Central School, for the purpose of any and all items that come before the board.
Portland public hearing today
The town of Portland will hold a public hearing on Water District 8 today at 6:30 p.m. at the town hall.
Town Set for meeting Dec. 7
The town of Persia will be having a Comprehensive Plan meeting on Dec. 7 at 10 a.m. at the Town Hall, 8 W. Main St., Gowanda.
Son’s of America meeting set for today
The Son’s of American Legion Squad 59 will hold a meeting, today at 7 p.m. at Post 59, 156 E Main Street, Fredonia. Plans for the TOPS card fundraiser will be completed during this meeting.
Reed staff to hold remote office hours
Congressman Tom Reed’s staff will hold remote office hours in Dunkirk on Thursday, Dec. 7, from 3:30-4:30 p.m. The meeting will be in the Mayor’s Conference Room at the Dunkirk City Hall, 342 Central Ave., Dunkirk. Staff will be available to answer questions, gather feedback and provide assistance with Medicare, Social Security, veterans’ benefits and other issues. related to federal agencies.
