Radio club to begin next level of hamming

The PROS ham radio club in Springville will start the next level in hamming. The free General license level will begin on November 12 at 1 PM. This will be held at Bertrand Chaffee Hospital, 224 East Main St. in Springville. The course is open to all hams that wish to go to the next license level.

The course will use the “Now you’re Talking” by Gordon West for around $26. Study guides will be available at the first class and it will run for 6 weeks. The Pet Pantry Holiday Craft Show 2017

You are invited to come to the third annual Holiday Craft Show today at the Chautauqua County Fairgrounds from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. As always, the show will offer handmade-only crafts. This is a great way to get your holiday shopping started and to support local crafters and artisans. If you are looking for a one-of-a-kind gift, look no further. You will find it here. We have something for everyone. Shop for jewelry, knitting, crocheting, candles, lotions, soaps, wreathes, textiles, Christmas ornaments, painted slate, paintings, journals, notecards, wood crafts, baskets and cement art. As always, the event is sponsored by The Pet Pantry. There will be refreshments for sale and a basket raffle. There will be a lottery ticket tree and a 50/50 raffle to benefit the stray/feral cat Trap Neuter Return Program.

Fredonia Education Board to meet

The Fredonia Board of Education will meet Tuesday, Nov. 14, at 6 p.m at the High School Library. The public is invited to attend.

Dunkirk Town Board to hold special meeting

The Dunkirk Town Board will hold a special meeting at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday, November 15, 201,7 at the Town Hall, 4737 Willow Road. The purpose of the meeting is to hold a workshop and conduct any other lawful business to come before the town board.

Reed Staff to Hold Remote Office Hours in fredonia November 13

Congressman Tom Reed’s staff will hold remote office hours in Fredonia on Monday, Nov. 13, from 11 a.m. to noon. The meeting will be in the Trustees’ Room at the Fredonia Village Hall, 9 Church St., Fredonia, NY. Staff will be available to answer questions, gather feedback and provide assistance with Medicare, Social Security, veterans’ benefits and other issues related to federal agencies.

Groundbreaking set for Point Gratiot Monday

The City of Dunkirk will be holding a ground breaking ceremony for the Point Gratiot Park Project on Monday, Nov. 13 at 11 a.m. at the main pavilion. A representative from state Senator Cathy Young’s office as well as those working on and supporting the project will be in attendance.
