Gathering for Athenex Wednesday
The Southern Tier Builders Association, the Chautauqua County Industrial Development Agency and the Cattaraugus County Department of Economic Development, Planning and Tourism have set up an informational meet and greet regarding Athenex today from 2-3:30 p.m. at Jamestown Community College’s North County Training Center at 10785 Bennett Road.
Athenex representatives Rich Nassar, Mark Forell and Cynthia Metz are scheduled to be in attendance as well as Steven Heyborne, senior project manager from M+W Group, the construction manager, and Justin Francis, project manager for the Pike Companies.

FCSD to hold
The Fredonia Central School District will be holding special public meetings for community members to hear details of the Capital Building Project that is being proposed and will go before the voters of the district on Dec. 19. These meetings will be held on Tuesday, Dec. 12, at 5 p.m. in the High School Library before the regularly scheduled Board of Education meeting and on Friday, Dec. 15, at 1:30 p.m. in the High School Auditorium. Members of the community are encouraged to attend to hear details about the scope of work to be done through this project and the project timeline, as well as to have their individual questions answered.
The project vote will be held Tuesday, Dec., 19, from 2 to 9 p.m. in the High School Cafeteria. Proof of residency will be required in order to vote.

Portland Fire District meeting rescheduled
The Board of Commissioners of the Portland Fire District announce that the regular scheduled meeting date of Dec. 11 has been moved to Monday, Dec. 18 at 7:30 pm.
In addition and at the request of the Brocton/Portland Shared Services Committee the board will meet with them and officials of the Town of Portland, Village of Brocton, Brocton and Portland Fire and EMS officers on Tuesday Dec. 12 at 7 p.m. at the Brocton Legion Post 434, Main Street Brocton for the purpose of opening discussions on current response problems in the District. As with all meeting of the Board these meetings are open and the public is welcome to attend.
Presentation on dementia slated
for Dec. 6
Chautauqua Opportunities Alzheimer’s Services is offering a presentation on Dementia Related Behaviors. Changes in a loved one can be hard to understand. It can be overwhelming. Each new day brings new challenges. Learn about disease-related behaviors and ways to improve daily routines. This presentation will be held at the Darwin R. Reed staff to hold remote office hours in Dunkirk Thursday
Congressman Tom Reed’s staff will hold remote office hours in Dunkirk on Thursday, Dec. 7, from 3:30-4:30 p.m. The meeting will be in the Mayor’s Conference Room at the Dunkirk City Hall, 342 Central Ave., Dunkirk. Staff will be available to answer questions, gather feedback and provide assistance with Medicare, Social Security, veterans’ benefits and other issues related to federal agencies.
Garden Club wreath sale underway
The Chadwick Bay Garden Club met recently to finalize plans for their annual fresh wreath sale.
Over the years these 24-inch nobel fir wreaths have decorated the doors of many local homes and businesses. The club also will be donating wreaths for Dunkirk City Hall and Fredonia Village Hall.
The proceeds have been used to purchase trees, evergreens and flowers for the Village of Fredonia and now the Dunkirk Lighthouse.

Forestville Board of Ed sets monthly meeting
The Forestville Central School District Board of Education will hold its regular monthly meeting this Thursday, Dec. 7, in the High School Library at 5 p.m.
