Edmund Aniszewski Day

Whereas, Edmund “Ed” Aniszewski will be honored by friends and relatives on the occasion of his 90th birthday; and Whereas, he was born in Dunkirk on January 28, 1928 to Leon & Camille Aniszewski and has been a life-long resident of this community; and Whereas, in 1950 Ed married Marie Brown and this marriage was blessed with 5 children, 10 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren; and Whereas, Ed worked for the U.S .Postal Service for nearly 40 years and is currently enjoying his 34th year of retirement; and Whereas, on days when the weather permits, you will see Ed taking a morning stroll along the bike path at Memorial Park;

Now, Therefore, I, Wilfred Rosas, by virtue of the authority vested in me as Mayor of the City of Dunkirk, do hereby deem it an honor and pleasure to proclaim Sunday, January 28, 2018 as “EDMUND ANISZEWSKI DAY” in the City, on the occasion of the celebration of his 90th birthday, with sincere congratulations and best wishes for many more happy and healthy years.

Portland Town Board sets special meeting

The Portland Supervisor has call a special meeting on Monday, Jan. 29 at 1 p.m. at the town hall to discuss wind towers and the Highway Departments with the Village of Brocton.

Pomfret looking to fill ZBA vacancy

A vacancy on the town of Pomfret’s Zoning Board of Appeals has been created due to a recent resignation. In an attempt to fill the vacancy, the town board is asking for any resident of the town, including the village of Fredonia, who’s interested in serving on the zoning board to please send a letter of interest to Allison Dispense, town of Pomfret, town clerk, at 9 Day Street, Fredonia, NY 14063.

Portland, Pomfret, Dunkirk Sewer District Board of Directors Meeting

There will be a board of directors meeting for the Portland, Pomfret, Dunkirk Sewer District on Tuesday, Jan. 30 at 3 p.m. at the Town of Dunkirk meeting room on Willow Road. Meeting is open to the public.

Forestville Board of Ed to meet Feb. 1

The Forestville Central School District Board of Education will hold its regular monthly meeting on Thursday, Feb. 1, in the High School Library at 5 p.m.

A budget workshop is scheduled for Thursday, Feb. 15, in the High School Library at 5 p.m.
