Reed staff to hold remote office hours in Dunkirk Feb. 22

Congressman Tom Reed’s staff will hold remote office hours in Dunkirk on Thursday, Feb. 22, from 2-3 p.m. The meeting will be in the Mayor’s Conference Room at the Dunkirk City Hall, 342 Central Ave., Dunkirk. Staff will be available to answer questions, gather feedback and provide assistance with Medicare, Social Security, veterans’ benefits and other issues related to federal agencies

Town of Portland Planning Board to meet Feb. 27

The Town of Portland Planning Board will hold its regular meeting on Tuesday, Feb. 27 at 6:30 p.m. at 87 w. Main St., Brocton. The public is welcome to attend.

Gas prices drop slightly

Monday’s national average price for a gallon of gasoline was $2.53, which is down five cents from one week ago. One year ago, the price was $2.28.

The New York State average is $2.73, down three cents from last week. A year ago, the NYS average was $2.48.

AAA Western and Central New York (AAA WCNY) reports the averages for Buffalo is $2.68, down 1 cent in past week.

Gas prices have decreased, however, expect to see spring gasoline prices increase.

Some analysts are predicting an increase of 20-25 cents per gallon. Global demand increasing and prices will increase as refineries switch over to more expensive summer blend fuel.
