POST 6390 holding event Saturday
Sheridan Memorial VFW Post 6390 will hold a spring meat party and gun drawings on Saturday, beginning at 6 p.m. Free refreshments and snacks, 16 different meats, special drawings for prime rib and surf & turf packages. Town of Pomfret to meet March 14
The Pomfret Town Board will gather for its regular meeting on Wednesday, March 14, at 6:30 p.m. at the town hall, 9 Day Street. At 6:15 p.m., a public hearing will be held on a local law to amend certain sections of the Pomfret Zoning Law and Code.
CVCS to sell flowers, candygrams
for musical cast
“Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat” will be performed at Cassadaga Valley High School tonight at 7:30 p.m., Saturday at 1:30 p.m. and March 16-17, both at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $8 for adults and $6 for students. There will be flowers and candygrams available for purchase for those who wish to show their support to students involved in the musical.
Fruit sale is
The annual fruit sale by the Dunkirk-Fredonia Rotary Club has begun. Residents will be able to choose from oranges, Empire apples, pears and grapefruit by the case or half-case. To order fruit, see a Dunkirk-Fredonia Rotarian. The club meets Thursdays at the Beaver Club in Fredonia at noon.
Also, those who would like to place an order, can call 366-3000, ext. 401. Pick-up for the fruit will be at the Walmart parking lot on April 14.
Literacy Volunteers book sale extended to March 9-10
Due to last week’s storm, Literacy Volunteers have extended their book sale. I continues today and concludes March 10. The book sale takes place from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at 21 East Bookstore, 21 E. Second St., Dunkirk. Patrons are asked to use the Washington Avenue entrance. Paperbacks are 50 cents, hard covers $1 and children’s books are 25 cents. There are some specially-priced books. The public is invited to browse, take home some bargains and to assist the organization in the work of promoting literacy.
Fredonia Village Board to meet March 14
The Fredonia Village Board will meet for a workshop and meeting on Monday, March 12, at the village hall. The workshop begins at 6:30 p.m. followed by the meeting at 7:30 p.m.
Reed staff to hold remote office hours in Fredonia
Congressman Tom Reed’s staff will hold remote office hours in Fredonia on Monday, March 12, from 10:30-11:30 a.m. The meeting will be in the Trustees’ Room at the Fredonia Village Hall, 9 Church St., Fredonia. Staff will be available to answer questions, gather feedback, and provide assistance with Medicare, Social Security, veterans’ benefits and other issues related to federal agencies.
