Perrysburg Town Board special meeting April 26

The Perrysburg Town Board will hold a special meeting to discuss proposed or pending employment of specific individuals. The meeting will take place in the Perrysburg Town Hall, 10460 Peck Hill Road, Perrysburg this Thursday at 5 p.m.

Chautauqua Striders SAT Boot Camp offers four session program

Chautauqua Striders SAT Boot Camp will begin Thursday, April 26 from 6 to 7:30 p.m. at the Ahira Hall Memorial Library, 27 W. Main St., Brocton. There will be a total of four sessions, for a cost of $20. Pre-register at michele@chautauqua-striders.org or call 363-2203. Scholarships are available. Different material will be presented at each session, with added instruction on topics that students find difficult. Additional sessions are scheduled Saturday, April 28 from 10 a.m. to noon and Tuesday, May 1 and Thursday, May 3 from 6 to 7:30 p.m.

East Dunkirk Fire Department meat raffle set for Saturday

The East Dunkirk Fire Department will hold a meat raffle on Saturday at 7 p.m. at the Fire Hall, 10949 S. Roberts Road, Dunkirk. Door prize tickets are $5. The first prize is a freezer full of meat, and the second prize is a gas grill. Members are raffling off beef, chicken and pork. Call 366-2211 for tickets or see any Fire Department member.

Brocton/Portland Food Pantry Mobile Pantry distribution Thursday

The Brocton/Portland Food Pantry, located at the West Portland Baptist Church, 7081 E. Route 20, Westfield, will have the Mobile Pantry distribution of food on Thursday, April 26. Sign-ins and distribution will begin at 1 p.m. The distribution will last until 1:45 p.m.

Collins Public Library May Events

The Collins Public Library, located at 2341 Main St., has announced a number of events for April. When registration is required, call 532-5129 or stop by.

Children’s Book Week begins April 30 through May 5. There will be a variety of activities available each day during this special week, including a coloring contest, the Great Book Character Hunt, a “Guess how much jar,” and much more.

Family Movie: Tuesday, May 1 at 5:30 p.m. This animated movie features the voices of Anthony Gonzalez, Benjamin Bratt and Cheech Marin. Call the library for the title of the movie.

Margaret Wise Brown Story Hour: May 3 at 5:15 p.m. Pigs, cats, dogs, rabbits and more are all a part of this fun story hour based on the books “Robin’s Room,” “Goodnight Moon” and more. Crafts, games, activities and stories. Registration is needed.

Senior Movie: Friday, May 4 at 1 p.m. Starring Fionn Whitehead, Damien Bonnard, Aneurin Barnard. Co-sponsored by the 50+ Seniors. Call the library for the title.

Music in the Library Concert Series: at 7 p.m. on Friday, May 4, for a performance by the bank Blue Mule.

Evening Book Club: Tuesday, May 8 at 5:30 p.m. We will be discussing “Hidden Figures” by Margot Lee Shetterly. Request a copy online or stop by the Library Desk. Call or stop by if interested.

Mother’s Day Events: Thursday, May 10 at 5:30 p.m. Best for ages 3 and up and mothers. Children can bring moms, grandmas, aunts or any other important women in their lives to this special event. There will be stories, crafts and snacks and also a scavenger hunt complete with prizes and door prizes. Sign up is requested.

Board Meeting: Thursday, May 10 at 7 p.m. Open to the public.

Tinkering in the Library! Saturday, May 12 at noon. Ages 1 to 12. With different rotating activities each month, there will be new things to explore. Fun for the whole family. Sign up is appreciated.

Craft Club: Monday, May 14 at 6 p.m. Ages 4 to 12. Theme will be May flowers. Registration required.

Gaming Unplugged: Thursday, May 15 at 5:30 p.m. Each month play a new game. Fun for all ages.

Computer Class: Saturday, May 19 from noon to 2 p.m. will be a special family history research with Ancestry Library Edition Database class. This class is free and open to the public, but registration is needed.

Erie County Library cards are available to all Erie County residents, all individuals who work in Erie County, and all those who live in the Gowanda School tax district. Rose set for April 26

Jerry Rose, poet non-laureate of Fredonia is on the loose! Having last year orchestrated a series of rollicking comedy shows at the Darwin Barker Library, aka “Nights with Jerry,” he returns to bark up the same tree at the Barker Library, 6 p.m. on Thursday, April 26 at 7 Day St., Fredonia. He will recite many of his poems about animals, both wild and domesticated. This an all-ages-welcome event.

Forestville OES chicken and biscuit public dinner planned for April 29

The Forestville Order of Eastern Star will hold a chicken and biscuit public dinner on Sunday, April 29 from noon to 4 p.m. or sold out. The event will take place at the Hanover Masonic Hall, 22 Main St., Forestville. The prices are $10 adults, $8 children. In addition to the chicken and biscuits, the men also includes vegetables, salad, dessert and beverage.

The Brocton Central School Board of Education will meet today at 7 p.m. in the Board conference room.

Harbor Commission meeting planned for today

There will be a Harbor Commission meeting today at 6 p.m at the Dunkirk Senior Center, 45 Cliffstar Court, Dunkirk.

John W. Dill American Legion Post 434 spring barbecue meat raffle set for April 28

John W. Dill American Legion Post 434 will hold a spring barbecue meat raffle this Saturday at 6 p.m. at 110 W. Main St., Brocton. Tickets are $5 each. It is not necessary to be present to win. Tickets are available at the bar. Prizes include: First prize: 4.3 cubic foot Magic Chef mini refrigerator; four strip steaks — 5 pound Sahlen hot dogs — chicken breasts — whole pork loin; second prize: food saver vacuum sealer; third prize: $50 Legion gift certificate; fourth prize: $25 Legion gift certificate.

American Legion Post 59 presents local band “Trio” on April 28

The American Legion Post 59, 156 E. Main St., Fredonia, will have music by local band “Trio,” on Saturday, April 28 at the Post, free for members/guests. “Trio” will be performing from 7:30 to 10:30 p.m.
