Westfield Quilters’ Guild welcomes Kim Kahanic

The Westfield Quilter’s Guild will host guest speaker Kim Kahanic from the Chautauqua Region Quilt Guild at the October monthly meeting. Kahanic’s program is entitled, “Things I Have Learned about Sewing and Quilting.” She will present a trunk show, talk about quilting techniques, and demonstrate some quilting tools. Members as well as visitors are welcome to come and be a part of the fun, Thursday, Oct. 18 at 6:30 p.m. at the Westfield YWCA, 48 S. Portage St.

Revitalize Dunkirk

general meetings

All Revitalize Dunkirk general meetings are held on the third Thursday of each month. They will be held this Thursday, Nov. 15, Dec. 20 and Jan. 17, 2019. All meetings begin at 6:30 p.m. in the large conference room of the Fredonia Technology Incubator located at 214 Central Ave., Dunkirk. All members of the public are welcome. Revitalize Dunkirk, Inc., is a 501c(3) not-for-profit committed to advocating ideas for improved urban living to residents and elected officials of the City of Dunkirk in order to preserve the historic heritage, enhance the physical infrastructure, reinvigorate commerce, and boost community pride and vision. Dayton Historical Society spaghetti

dinner planned for Wednesday

A fundraising spaghetti dinner and basket raffle will be held Wednesday from 4-7 p.m. at the Dayton fire hall, located on Route 62, Dayton. This is to benefit the Dayton Historical Society that is in need of a new roof. The location is handicapped accessible and there is plenty of parking space.

Cost of the dinner is $10 and includes spaghetti with meatballs, salad, roll with butter, beverage and homemade dessert. Patrons may eat in or take out and tickets are available at the door. In addition to dinner, there will be many baskets to try to win. Tickets are only $1 for 4. Hard cover “HISTORY OF DAYTON” books will also be available for purchase at $20 each.

All are welcome to come and support a great cause. Members would love to have everyone attend, but for those who are unable to, donations of any amount are always welcome and much appreciated. Donations may be sent to the Dayton Historical Society, PO Box 15, Dayton, NY 14041. New members are accepted for $5 yearly dues.

Alzheimer’s and Other Dementias: Responding to behaviors presentation planned for today

The Chautauqua County Office for the Aging, Alzheimer’s Association and DENT Neurological Institute will provide an informative presentation on Frontal Temporal Dementia and Lewy Body Dementia as well as Alzheimer’s. Learn about community resources. Light refreshments will be served from 11:30 a.m. to noon.

The event will take place today from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at St. John’s United Church of Christ, 733 Central Ave., Dunkirk. Parking is in the rear of the church.

Brocton/Portland Democratic Committee plans dinner

The Brocton/Portland Democratic Committee will be holding a spaghetti dinner with home made meatballs at the Brocton American Legion, 110 W. Main St., this Wednesday from 4 to 7 p.m. Pre-sale tickets: adults $8.50 and children under 12, $5. For tickets purchased at the door: adults $9 and children under 12, $5.25.
