Ripley Central School District to meet Nov. 19

A regular meeting of the Board of Education of the Ripley Central School District will be held on Monday, Nov. 19 at 6:30 p.m. in the IRLA Library (Room 204) of the Ripley Central School, for the purpose of any and all items that come before the board.

Sheridan Post 6390 VFW Auxiliary bake sale today

The Auxiliary of Sheridan VFW Post 6390 will be holding a bake sale today, Nov. 16, in the lobby of the Post, located at 2556 Main Road in Sheridan. With Thanksgiving approaching, baked goods for sale this month will feature pies and breads, along with an assortment of other treats. The items will be sold during the regular Friday night fish fry dining hours. Members are all asked to bake.

Leon Fire Company annual benefit and turkey raffle Saturday

Leon Fire Company #1’s annual benefit and turkey raffle will be held Saturday, Nov. 17 at 6 p.m. at the Leon Fire Hall. There will be over $3,000 in prizes. The evening features include a drawing for $500 cash (must be present to win this prize); 50/50’s, chance auction, free admission and refreshments as well as an evening only 50 cal. CVA gun drawing.

The $10 tickets will be available that night or through any fire department member or at Amish businesses. The event is located at the Fire Hall on New Albion Road in Leon.

Fredonia Food Pantry open Saturday

On Saturday, Nov. 17, The Fredonia Food Pantry will be open from 10 a.m. until noon at Fredonia Presbyterian Church at 219 Central Ave. The pantry serves the needs of residents of Fredonia, area code 14063, Pomfret, Sheridan, and Laona. All guests receive one or more bags of non-perishable food. Number of bags given out depends on family size.

Forestville Food Pantry holiday basket raffle set for Saturday

Forestville Food Pantry holiday basket raffle will take place Saturday, Nov. 17 from 1 to 5 p.m. at the Forestville American Legion, 6 Cedar St., Forestville. Admission is non-perishable food. Country, bluegrass Southern Gospel music will feature “The Good Ol Boys” and Roy Alcorn. The event is family-oriented. Refreshments will be available.

Barker Library presents ‘For the Birds’ Saturday

Join a representative from the Roger Tory Peterson Institute at the Darwin R. Barker Library, 7 Day St., Fredonia on Saturday, Nov. 17 from 11 a.m. to noon.

Learn about the life of Jamestown native Roger Tory Peterson, most famous for writing and illustrating “A Field Guide to the Birds.” Play a game bird identification game and learn how to use a Peterson Field Guide.

This program is appropriate for all ages. No registration required.

Holiday Victorian Tea at McClurg is Saturday

The Chautauqua County Historical Society will be hosting a Holiday High Tea at the historic McClurg Mansion in Moore Park, Westfield, on Saturday, Nov. 17 as part of the Annual Christmas in the Village.

Patrons may feel as though they have stepped back in time as they enjoy delightful and delectable sandwiches, savories, sweets and beverages while basking in the rich and beautiful ambience of the mansion.

Tea will be served from 11 a.m. until 3 p.m. The cost is $15 and no reservations needed.
