Church to hold service Thursday

On Thursday at 5:30 p.m. will be “St. Nicholas Day” – Taize Advent Service at St. Peter’s Episcopal Church. The worship tradition represented in these services began many years ago in the ecumenical French monastic community called Taize. It is a quiet service of meditation, reflection, readings and music.

Dash for Cash

fund-raiser underway

The annual Holiday Dash for Cash fund-raiser for the Boys & Girls Club of Northern Chautauqua County is under way. With a grand prize of $2,500, tickets a limited number of $50 tickets are now available for sale.

In addition to the grand prize will be two prizes of $500, two prizes of $250 as well as additional bonus prizes on the night of the fund-raiser event, which will take place from 6 to 7 p.m. in the Clarion Hotel Marina and Conference Center. Appetizers will be available on that evening.

Patterson Library to host documentary premiere

On Thursday, Patterson Library, 40 S. Portage St., Westfield, will host the premiere of the documentary “Among the Hemlocks: Fantastic Stories from Fredonia, N.Y.” at 6 p.m. The documentary, created by Roslin Smith, utilizes historic photographs and newspaper clippings, bringing them to life with re-enactments and voice-overs. The premiere is free and open to the public.

Coffee with the Mayor

Village of Fredonia Mayor Athanasia Landis would like to invite Fredonia residents who have any concerns to speak with her today from 9 to 10 a.m. “Coffee with the Mayor” is held in her office on the first floor of Village Hall, 9-11 Church St., Fredonia, on the first Wednesday of every month at 9 a.m. No appointments are necessary.
