Gowanda Moose Lodge to host Daytona 500 pig roast

On Sunday, Feb. 17, the Gowanda Moose Lodge, 201 Aldrich St., Gowanda, is hosting a Daytona 500 pig (pork) roast to raise funds for a new roof. Dinner tickets are $10 (eat-in or take-out) and include roasted pig, beans, salt potatoes, roll and dessert. Dinner is served from 1 p.m. until gone.

Karate Sleepover Valentine’s Comedy Showcase

The Spire Theater and Karate Sleepover put together perfect Valentine’s Weekend event.

On Friday, Feb. 15, Karate Sleepover and The Spire Theater will collaborate on an event for the community that will provide a dinner and show for an affordable price. The address is The Spire Theater, 317 E. Third St., Jamestown.

The event will begin at 6:30 p.m. when the doors open to the beautiful Odyssey Hall with the Spire Theater. At 7 p.m. the guests will have the option of a beef, fish, of vegetarian option dinner for two. After the meal at 8 p.m., guests will walk across the hall to Jamestown’s underground comedy club, Studio Metro for a show that will include the area’s top up-and-coming comedians.

Menu will include options:

1. Bistro Steak; 2. Salmon Almandine a l’orange (gf); 3. Caribbean Sweet Potato Gratin (vegan/gf).

Cold beverage, coffee or tea and dessert will be included. Additional concessions, beverages and desserts also available for purchase.

Talent will include Derek Burr (Erie, Pennsylvania), Paul Clemente (Lakewood), Ian Insect (Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania), Jeremy Little (Jamestown), Amber Maeda (Cleveland, Ohio), Kipp Reynolds (Falconer), Jake Samson (Buffalo), Brittany See (Randolph), and Teal Weatherley (Jamestown).

Tickets are $45 for dinner and the show; or $8 for the show only.

Fredonia Food Pantry open Feb. 16

On Saturday, Feb. 16, The Fredonia Food Pantry will be open from 10 a.m. until noon at Fredonia Presbyterian Church at 219 Central Ave. The pantry serves the needs of residents of Fredonia, area code 14063, Pomfret, Sheridan, and Laona. All guests receive one or more bags of non-perishable food. Number of bags given out depends on family size.

Cherry Creek VFW plans Valentine’s Dinner

The Cherry Creek VFW, 7117 Route 83, town of Cherry Creek, will hold a Valentine’s Dinner on Thursday, Feb. 14 from 4 to 8 p.m.

The $20 cost includes a choice of strip steak, jumbo shrimp or lasagna. All include shrimp cocktail, a twice baked potato, bread, tossed salad and dessert.

Cassadaga Legion to host Pinewood Derby

On Saturday, Feb. 16 at 9:30 a.m., the Cassadaga American Legion is hosting the Pinewood Derby, a Cub Scout tradition since 1953. The Scouts receive a car kit in advance and build the race cars at home. Cars can weigh no more than five ounces on race day. Members of the Cherry Creek VFW are invited to attend to cheer on the Scouts of Pack 219.
